With the *ahem* dragon out of the way, the Defenders finally get a much needed rest at the oasis; home of the best water one will ever drink. The pyramid is finally reached, though it seems much has happened since our heroes' last visit. It is revealed that their quarry is elsewhere, though not far; the Defenders find not only the object, but also an onslaught of undead guardians willing to do whatever it takes to prevent our heroes from obtaining their goals.

The Defenders have gotten what they came for. Now what to do with it? Basil learns more about the murals, and the consequences of a job unfinished. Onyx learns that dragons are not very challenging combatants; Finnileas may or may not have something to do with that.

In order to prepare for whatever it is they're about to face, the Defenders attempt to rest up and refresh themselves. While on the first watch, Onyx gets distracted and wanders off. That isn't really a spoiler, is it? I mean, this information surprises no one. The party must track down their wayward guildmate before he gets himself into trouble.

Basil employs a new fighting technique, Krav Macado, as the battle continues. The pyramid is located, but there is no obvious entrance. Still, where there's an Onyx, there's a way. The Defenders must navigate the trap-filled ruin without their rogue. Speaking of being down a rogue...some interesting tactics that are definitely "not cheating" are employed to overcome the obstacle of locked doors. There's two wizards. Two. Not one thought to prepare Knock?
