Like millions of other undocumented Americans, I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to survive the next four years.
One way I’ll do that is by telling the truth about the immigrant experience—the full immigrant experience—in a country where lies, misinformation, and disinformation about “illegal aliens” helped bring Donald Trump back to the White House.
Throughout this podcast, I’ll invite experts, advocates, and immigrants to break down both the practical (What options do DACA recipients have now?) and the political (How did Democrats let MAGA Republicans take control of the immigration debate?).
At the heart of this conversation is a fundamental question: How do you define American? As mass deportations become a growing reality, we must confront this question as it impacts person by person, family by family.
In this first episode, I sit down with two fearless immigrant rights advocates to discuss these topics:
Patrice Lawrence, Executive Director of UndocuBlack, who fights for Black undocumented immigrants
Erika Andiola, Communications Director at Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, former press secretary for Latino Outreach for the Bernie Sanders campaign, and a nationally recognized immigration activist
