Definitely First Blood

It's 1973 in Canada, Trudeau is the PM, Alex Trebek has just moved to the States for his first hosting gig and cannibal girls are eating men in small towns everywhere... well, in Farnhamville! Before there was Ghostbusters, there was Ivan Reitman's Cannibal Girls! This little exploitation flick stars a very young Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin and features Randall Carpenter, Mira Pawluk and Bonnie Neillson as the eponymous Cannibals. We chat about the movie while drinking Beau's Janis and talk about the improvised script and stressful post-production.

It’s curtains on fall and we’re kicking off the winter season with… CURTAINS! Directed by Richard Ciupka(and Peter Simpson) and starring some great genre talent like Lynne Griffin (Black Christmas), Samantha Eggar (The Brood), Lesleh Donaldson(Happy Birthday to Me) & Sandee Currie(Terror Train) this home-grown Canadian slasher is kind-of a mess but features great performances, a spooky mask and a pretty iconic ice-skating chase. Christopher talks about the troubled, long production that spanned almost 3 years and as always we find out how it Jamie Lee’s.

Gobble, Gobble. Happy Thanksgiving to our American listeners! Today we are talking about Thanksgiving slasher BLOOD RAGE starring Mark Soper, Louise Lasser, Julie Gordon and Lisa Randall. This movie features some pretty memorable performances, great effects and a hefty dose of quirkiness. We chat about the movie, Christopher talks a little about production and then Mitch workshops his Thanksgiving slasher, ‘The Carver’!

We’re back from our impromptu fall break and talking about the true king of the fall break, THE MUTILATOR(aka Fall Break)! Written and Directed by Buddy Cooper and starring Ruth Martinez, Matt Miller, Connie Rogers, Bill Hitchcock & Frances Raines, this little gem does not disappoint in the gore and is relatively unique while also being a very by-the-numbers slasher film with perhaps THE best original song in a horror movie. As always we talk about the movie then Christopher fills us in on the production! FallBreak4Ever!

Happy Halloween!! It’s our first edition of our ‘Shorts’ episodes where we will be talking about and reviewing new horror movies and we’re kicking things off by blabbering about David Gordon Green’s Halloween (WARNING THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!) starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak & Nick Castle.

Happy Halloween! We celebrate by talking about the amazingly perfect John Carpenter’s Halloween(of course!). Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasence, PJ Soles & Nancy Loomis(Kyes) Halloween started and exemplified the slasher craze of the 1980s and we couldn’t think of a better way to usher in its 40th Anniversary and our holiday! We drink Great Lakes Brewery’s Saison DuPump while chatting Halloween and then get real with a true crime story about “The Candyman” who killed his own son and tried to kill four others on Halloween night in 1974. We hope everybody has an awesome Halloween, play safe kids!

In today’s episode we are talking about Doug Robertson’s 1991 film HauntedWeen starring Brien Blakely, Blake Pickett, Bently Tittle & Brad Hanks! It’s a fun, goofy little slasher that we both really love. We talk about The Haunting of Hill House(Spoiler free), drink St-Ambroise Pumpkin Ale from McAuslan Brewing Inc. Then we dive into this regional comedy/horror that, we think, was way ahead of its time in terms of its kills!

It’s a Halloween Party at Hull House and we’re all invited! We talk about our Thanksgiving, drink Iron Maiden Brewery’s Hallowed and share our thoughts on the new Pet Sematary trailer. Then, we dive into talking all about Kevin Tenney’s NIGHT OF THE DEMONS starring Cathy Podewell, Alvin Alexis, Amelia Kinkade & our fave, Linnea Quigley. It’s one of the best Halloween movies around with a stellar soundtrack, great camerawork and some pretty admirable attention to detail! It’s far-fucking-out!

Our Halloween countdown continues and today we are talking 2004 horror film Hellbent, a gay-themed slasher movie from Writer/Director Paul Etheredge and starring Dylan Fergus, Andrew Levitas, Hank Harris & Luke Weaver. It’s a pretty standard slasher, but that really works for it and it has pretty rad production design! We talk the movie while enjoying Big Rig Brewing Co.’s Tales From the Patch Pumpkin Porter, then chat about the production a bit and as always find out how it 6 Degrees of Jamie Lee’s!

It's our second Halloween-y episode and we are talking about 1995's JACK-O! Starring Linnea Quigley (the only saving grace), Rachel Carter & Maddisen K. Krown with cameos by Brinke Stevens, John Carradine & Cameron Mitchell, this Halloween number is kind-of a disaster, but a fun one. It has everything... parodies of Conservative pundits, death by toaster, nudity and some of the worst child acting...ever!? This week we drink Lake of Bays Brewing Co.'s Pumpkin Ale, talk about our favorite Halloween costumes, dunk on the movie and learn about it's weird production process! Have a spooky weekend kids!
