A group of disgruntled Dutchmen revolted against their Lord, King Felipe II of Spain, but the Prince of Orange, the de facto leader of the rebellion, had fled to Germany. He attempted a few invasions to drive the Royal Army out, but they ultimately failed. Orange declared war on the King’s representative, Governor-General Alba, and then invaded the Netherlands himself.

*Episode 4: Come Hell or High Water*

 In 1628, the largest Dutch United East India Company's Returnship, 'The Batavia,' on her way to Batavia, crashed on the Houtman Abrolhos Islands, off the coast of Western Australia. Help was underway, but Under Merchant Jeronimus Cornelisz plotted to take over any rescue ship once it arrived and go pirating. He ordered the deaths of anyone who could ruin their plans. One group of survivors was led by soldier Wiebbe Hayes, who intended to defend themselves tooth and nail against attacks from the Under Merchant.

*Episode 3: Devil and the Deep Blue Sea*

In 1628, the largest Dutch United East India Company's Returnship, "The Batavia," was on her way to Batavia, VOC headquarters on Java in the East Indies, when she crashed off the coast of Australia with over 300 souls on board and very valuable cargo.

The Upper Merchant Francisco Pelsaert reached company headquarters and hoped the Governor-General Jan Pieterszn. Coen would send help.

In the meantime, on the islands, Under Merchant Jeronimus Cornelisz plotted to take over any rescue ship once it arrived and go pirating. He was gathering mutineers, but everyone else had to go.

FINAL EPISODE of the Story of John Dillinger, the Depression

The United States Government had placed a $10,000 reward on Public Enemy Number One, John Dillinger.

But Dillinger continued to elude local, state, and federal police at every turn, and the public kept cheering him on. Johnnie had undergone plastic surgery to change the most notable features of his face, but his mug was still very recognizable.

J. Edgar Hoover of the Bureau of Investigation hoped the high reward would turn all the regular law-abiding folk, devastated by the Great Depression, into a salivating pack of dogs to hunt down Johnnie and bring him in.

The not-so-law-abiding folk planned

One person in particular had such plans, not so much for the reward money, a nice bonus, but in the hopes of gaining a Governor's pardon.

Episode 11/12 of the Story of John Dillinger, the Depression Era Gangster.

In the wake of the shootout between Federal Agents and the Dillinger Gang at the Little Bohemia Lodge in Northern Wisconsin, the United States government passed several crime bills that gave J. Edgar Hoover's men of the Bureau of Investigation extensive powers to unleash hellfire in the War on Crime.

John Dillinger was Hoover's supreme target, and he and his Agents ramped up efforts to catch Johnnie and his fellow gang mates, Homer Van Meter, George "Baby Face" Nelson, Thomas "Tommy" Carroll, and Arthur "Pat" Reilly.

Dillinger was still reeling from the loss of his lieutenant John "Red" Hamilton who had been shot

Despite law enforcement's best efforts to turn Dillinger into a master villain, Johnnie received a lot of public support. However, with his face splashed across newspapers and movie screens, he became too recognizable.

He needed to change his face.
