Francisca is a model of the Mallorcan work ethic and she reminds us that in the Mallorcan home, family and community are always the top priority.

In their talk, Mariana tells about her intellectual Peruvian/American upbringing, with parents who made beauty, art and knowledge the centerpiece of home life. We learn about the overriding political conflicts of the day, and how it all influenced the life of her family, and her determination to make art despite politics. Mariana has a delightful way of weaving talk of her work into the story of her life, reminding us of the interplay between art and life.
