According to the New York Times, not only is the company billions of dollars in debt, but it's also reportedly refusing help from a hedge fund hoping to overtake majority share in Campbell's to turn things around. Last quarter alone, "earnings were down 50 percent...soup sales have been eroding and the company’s chief executive, Denise Morrison, stepped down under pressure in May," the Times explains.

People reports the Center for Disease Control has investigated 22 outbreaks in 2018 so far, which is the highest number of investigations in 12 years. Lest it seem like food is becoming more and more unsafe to eat, the Food and Drug Administration just swooped in with an explanation on why there have been so many food recalls this year. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb told CNN last week that the numbers of investigations will rise as their methods of finding outbreaks get better.

People living with peanut allergies deal with the daily struggle of having to avoid peanut products at all costs or they risk experiencing a severe allergic reaction...but a new treatment could possibly change all of that. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine Sunday found that AR101, a peanut-derived immunotherapy drug, allowed participants ages 4 to 17 to tolerate at least 600 mg of peanut protein (which is about two whole peanut kernels).
