The vital task of finding common ground in American politics became much more difficult in the traumatic days after the violence and mayhem at the U.S. Capitol. While many Americans viewed the pro-Trump crowd as thugs, others thought of them as patriots.

Dr. Israel is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and past-President of the Society of Counseling Psychology.
