  • Self Expression, Dopamine & Motivation What Every Team Leader Should Know ( part 1 of 3)

No one wants to be a robot and people get bored and lose motivation fast if they are not personally involved or invested in the outcome.  If you are feeling unmotivated, or are faced with leading an unmotivated team, partner, or employee, you may find Dr. Suite's podcast on the link between self-expression, dopamine, and motivation interesting.  Among the brain’s many chemical messengers, few stand out as much as the neurotransmitter dopamine. Linked to love, pleasure, motivation, and more, dopamine signaling plays a central role in the brain's reward system and in turn the behaviors and motivational levels of human beings. Understanding how dopamine is linked to self-expression and motivation can open up new pathways to encouraging motivation.

  • Do You Know How to Recognize PTSD

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a type of anxiety disorder, can happen after a deeply threatening or scary event. Even if you weren't directly involved, the shock of what happened can be so great that you have a hard time living a normal life. People with PTSD can have insomnia, flashbacks, low self-esteem, and a lot of painful or unpleasant emotions. They might constantly relive the event and have a tough time at work or engaging in social activities and may end up with Major Depression, Substance Use, or OCD. The good news is that PTSD is highly treatable with trauma-focused counseling--and in some cases with medications. You should not delay getting help.
