Florida was one of the last states to implement a lockdown and now Gov. Ron DeSantis is hoping to be among the first states to reopen. DeSantis has been forceful in recent days in arguing that it’s time to reopen businesses. The governor criticized media reporting on models created by public health experts, noting the model predications that Florida’s health care system would be overwhelmed by coronavirus patients have not borne out. DeSantis created the Re-Open Florida Task Force to give recommendations for how to safely end the lockdown, which is set to expire at the end of this month.
