In this episode, we get to talk to Jen Laffin the creator of TeachWrite.  You have probably heard us talk about her on the podcast before.  I’ve had the pleasure of participating in her Time to Write workshop, and she has created a phenomenal community.

As you may have noticed, season two is focused on how people have turned their passion projects into real world opportunities.  So in this episode, notice how Jen has taken something she was passionate about— writing  and turned it into her day job.  She is now helping teachers become better writers so that they can become better teachers of writing.

Having a passion project doesn’t require you to leave the classroom.  In fact, think of it as something that brings you joy, widens your impact and is anchored in your curiosity. 

In the next episode, I’m going to reveal to you a project that I just started working on, and that I feel really passionate about.  As you know my word for 2021 is ASK, so I’m ask you to be a part of it.

Hey Designers,

Are you ready to feel joy?  In this episode, we are going to focus on gratitude. We are looking back on the year, and expressing gratitude and thanks as a way of preparing ourselves for the new year.  This strategy is going to give us each perspective leave us feeling joyful.

I know that sounds a little bit whoo whoo.  But I have been on a 30 day gratitude challenge, and I will tell you that it works.  Expressing thanks reframes your mindset so that you enter and exit your day with a feeling of gratitude for all that has been given to you.

I also know that it works because about 5 days into the challenge, my husband said to me, “You’ve been looking happy lately. You are shining.”  And I thought to myself.  “Wow! It must be working.”
