At the heart of anyone’s legacy is a human heart beating. In this week's episode, Angelina Carleton speaks to Bruce Shutan, a ghostwriter and journalist who has written for over 120 publications. Angelina chats with Mr. Shutan on how to write about an individual's life legacy through the power of storytelling. If your legacy is seen as an investment, this episode is all about cementing and documenting your life. Our Story: We believe the positive legacy of every human being can be realized with great coaching. Most of us are not developing the kind of legacy that allows us to be as happy and intentional as we'd like to be. We think, speak and write about developing personal life legacies so others can see a way forward with ease and possibilities. If the path to your legacy is defined and developed, you will be able to experience more freedom, fulfillment and satisfaction. Our Mission Statement: Developing a holistic legacy is not yet an endeavor to pursue for most people, even if it could be a vision ‘one day’, which sometimes makes people feel overwhelmed and with clay feet. We wake up every morning and pave a way for "new legacy conversations" so more people can take personal agency in designing their lasting legacy. Our Theme: If the bridge to a personal legacy is made clear, more people will be able to cross to the other side and design a legacy filled with meaning and their values. - When professional coaching can an asset to your legacy planning – in bringing your ideas to life - because plans do not develop and execute themselves by intentions alone - retain your Legacy Planning© advisor at www.DesignUrLegacy.com. - If you’re not a client yet, here’s your invitation to schedule your consultation and book your first session online today. Lock in your spot at www.designurlegacy.com/consultation. - Music touches and heals the heart, no matter the language spoken. Dave Combs experienced commercial success as a recording artist starting in 1988. Then, the pandemic came for him to brainstorm how to reach those in need of music. In his value of empathy, he reached out to 45,000 assisted living care facilities to give his music away as a gift to the residents so they would not feel isolated or depressed when family members couldn't visit. Thus, Mr. Combs picked up the phone and called the Activity Directors. In this episode, Angelina Carleton speaks with her cousin, Dave, about creating and leaving a holistic legacy outside of just money. While Mr. Combs does serve on a few advisory boards and offers a scholarship fund, what he may be remembered most for was how he shared his music for other’s happiness ... turning other’s grief and loneliness into peace of mind with his 120 songs. If you thought your life's talents could not also become a part of your legacy, lean in and listen to this conversation. Lock in your spot at www.designurlegacy.com/consultation. - Stewardship as a 'Next Generation' family member can feel like a dichotomy. You need a wealth building mentality and yet, you can be tempted to spend it in one generation (cue: shirt sleeves to shirt sleeves, clogs to clogs, teacups to teacups, etc). That is why family culture must be invested into and throughout the years so the wealth can be carried on with the following generations. If you are looking to create a positive culture, the good news is there are positive examples and guiding principles to inspire you. Today's podcast guest found himself born into a family of some wealth (the Anheuser family of Budweiser beer fame). Today, David McCary is the founder of McCary Anheuser Wealth Management, a registered investment advisory that helps clients with asset protection, estate planning, investment planning, debt management as well as disability, income and tax planning. In this episode, Angelina Carleton speaks with David about behavioral finance, building blocks for the 'Next Generations' and spending one’s life wisely. If you can think of your legacy in the context of the Johnny Appleseed story, this podcast episode will inspire you to start now, planting seeds for the Rule of Seven (7). Learn about David at www.mccary-anheuser-wealth.com. - Mr. McCary worked hard earning a Bachelors in Economics from Middlebury College, an MBA in Finance from Dartmouth, and most recently his Certified Financial Planner designation. These credentials, combined with his 40+ years as an institutionally trained investment advisor and entrepreneur, have helped him bring a wealth management practice to his clients that can truly help them manage through their own personal and family wealth challenges. When done well, his client’s lives can be significantly improved both during their lifetime and for generations to come. David serves on three boards of directors and helps their investment committees oversee $100+ million in investments. The boards are: 1) The University of Hartford Art School Endowment; 2) The Connecticut Episcopal Bishops Fund; and 3) The Colt Family Bequest. --- About Legacy Planning(c): There is an empty space between financial planning and estate law where a co-active coach can expand the conversations around your holistic legacy planning. Book your Discovery Session today at www.designurlegacy.com/sessions, the ultimate resource to help you define, develop and execute your holistic legacy plan today. Lock in your spot at www.designurlegacy.com/consultation. - How do you design a legacy, let alone a luxury residential or hospitality space, when starting from scratch in a new country and under pressure? In the span of 12 years, Cristiana walks us through her journey of arriving in America from Romania in 2006 and how she built up her interior design practice to work with affluent clients. She shares her experiences of growing up on a farm, the years of struggle and sleeping four hours a night to build her legacy dreams. Yet, her ability to design beautiful spaces has earned her the trust of clients for her practice in Chicago and London. Ms. Crin speaks to the hardest things she has had to do when building her vision into reality. Today, she finds her inspiration from fashion shows, displays and art including Prada’s use of colors and lines for her pops of color in the “Wow element”, as well as Dolce and Gabbana’s use of flowers into her designs. Cristiana speaks to the stigma of being a woman still in the business world, though she leans on her capacity for patience.
