Ever wanted to be a fly on the wall when designers talk shop? Now's your chance. In April 2025 HDK Valand, the Academy of Art and Design, and Röhsska Museet, museum of Design and Craft, invited some 100 people to come to Gothenburg and discuss design, and trade stories and ideas during a one day forum. The topic of the day: Where does the critical go?
The ambition was to move pass the glamorous and sometimes destructive surface of the discipline and plough deeper into how designers can work if they are concerned less with mere products, and more with changing the world. In this English speaking episode Lisa Marie Mannfolk meets one of the initiators, design professor Onkar Kular from HDK Valand, as well as sex additional voices who show that design is not just for Christmas. Hear Carlos Mingues Carrasco, Tor Lindstrand, Petra Lilja, Helena Hansson, Martin Avila and Mathilda Tham talk about their hopes, fears and dreams for the discipline. Welcome!
This is a special episode in collaboration with HDK Valand.
