While your wheels aren’t always the first thing you jump to clean, they play a huge part in how good your car looks. Point is, a dirty set of wheels certainly isn’t helping. If you notice that you’re one of the many cars on the road with lusterless wheels, it’s probably time for a detail. But before you bust out the sponge and soap, make sure you’re not playing victim to one of these four wheel cleaning myths…

What You Need:

    Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)

    Filtered water

    Measuring cup

    Spray bottle

    Rag

    100 ml graduated cylinder

    Ethanol

    Silicone oil or castor oil

    Graduated cylinder

Simple Solution

    Pour half a cup of rubbing alcohol into a spray bottle.

    Add 1 cup of filtered water to the spray bottle.

    Swirl the bottle to mix the two ingredients. The bottle may feel warm. Wait until it cools before putting on the cap.

    Spray the solution onto the exterior of a clean and dry windshield. Use a clean, dry rag to wipe the windshield until it is completely dry.
