    Robbery Detail. On a lonely street, a man is robbed, and his car stolen.
    Joe Friday and Ben Romero go to a high-rise department store to interview Harvey. He describes the car jacking on his way to work. On the way, a man with exotic tropical fish is questioned, and we learn about some of the sea life in his tanks. Clown fish, a sea horse, Egyptian mouth breeders, and some of their habits.
    A hot tip locates their man, but a confrontation after a 12 hour stakeout ends up with Joe shot.
    Voiceover duty is taken over by Ben as he describes how the case is developing. Joe’s condition is serious, and Ben tells how new cadets are warned of hazardous duty, and why investigations are kicked up a notch when it involves a fallen officer. Ben gets tough as he pursues the trail.
    The suspect is easily apprehended, but what about Joe? He seems on the road to recovery, and though the robber is caught, they still have a stolen car to find.

  • Sherlock Holmes – Hampton Heath Killer. ep197, 460107
    Performing live for the troops at Camp Roberts, Watson tells a tale of a murder in wax. In flashback we join Holmes as he gathers the details from the police. In further flashback, we relive the moments the young man tells about his girlfriend, Bessie, being stabbed. More crimes show up, with the same manner of stabbing. Hearing the drama of 10 murders, Holmes focuses on obscure clues, and starts work on the case.
    What does a residue of colored wax indicate? Watson thinks it may have a theatrical connection, but at Holmes suggestion wax museums are investigated. A display of a comprehensive collection of killers is found, criminals from earlier cases of the great detective. An offer of a reward to spend the night in the scene of horror is a publicity stunt of the museum. Holmes suspects something more sinister is going on, and plans to trap a killer.
    Holmes keys in on an important clue, a play on words and names. Disguised as Watson, Holmes arms himself and goes to spend the night in the museum. What danger awaits? Will Watson come to aid his friend in time?

  • Nick Carter – Flying Duck Murders. ep26, 431004
    When other investigators have been driven away, it’s time to get Nick Carter on the job. Things get interesting pretty quick, as he mobilizes his team. Stubby and Patsy keep watch, as Nick thrusts himself into checking out the mining operation.
    Special lead lined caskets are brought in to handle the bodies from the previously killed detectives. Hey, what’s the third one for? Stubby needs to be careful, or it might be for him. Nick suspects there’s more to the caskets, and hides out in one to go for a ride.
    The crooks think they’re in the clear, until Nick makes his move. Has he thought of everything, or will Nick have the tables turned on him? Help comes from an unexpected direction. Has Nick finally blown the lid off the mystery at the Flying Duck Mine?

  • Dragnet – Big New Years. ep91, 510308
    Homicide Detail. Thousands of people crowd the streets, and one of them is a killer.
    On the way back from dinner, Joe is invited to a party later at fellow cop’s house, Jack Connley. Joe describe how New Years is the hardest working day of the year for a cop. Responding to a shooting, Joe and Ben race their patrol car to the scene. Jack is the downed cop, but with the crowded street, nobody actually saw what happened.
    The festive atmosphere in the Connley home has the night ruined when Joe has to deliver the sad, somber news that Jack isn’t coming home. The manhunt continues, but leads all point back to a bar near the crime scene including a cabbie with a description of a goofed up man, acting queer. Why is the bar owner so reluctant to cooperate? A heroine addict is identified, and Joe is soon on his trail.
    In voiceover, Joe Friday describes the trail of clues. At a Salvation Army band meeting on the skid row street, Joe interviews a pusher who has gotten his act cleaned up. Though the informant thinks the sidewalk meetings would do well to save Harry’s soul, it’s not going to help keep him out of trouble with the law. A knock at the door, and Harry goes down in an explosion of gunfire and fists.

  • Sherlock Holmes – Case of the Iron Box. ep196, 451231
    Reliving another New Years eve, Watson tells about the one in 1899. On a train, and with several hours of travel ahead of them, Holmes hears the word on the latest mystery from Watson. A matter of an inheritance being passed on at the 21st birthday. How does a leap year figure to complicate the matter? Arriving at the castle, our sleuths are greeted warmly.
    The midnight ceremony means opening the iron box, and will officially announce a wedding engagement. Preparations are made, all the players in place, and excitement runs high. Holmes explains why 1900 is not a leap year, and Watson tells that the new century doesn’t actually begin until 1901.
    Disappointment falls on the young folks. Can Sherlock bring any resolution? As Watson tries his best to cheer up the young couple, a murder kicks up the stakes, and Holmes is in pursuit of a killer. Who pushed grandfather out the window, into the moat?

  • Richard Diamond – The Harry Baker Case. ep20, 490903
    After sharing about some of the loudly colored fashions of the day, Richard shifts to a matter of Harry Baker becoming involved with his private secretary. Is Connie moving too fast, or pushing the issue with Harry too far? Dropping into the police station, Richard teases his cop friends, and enjoys a comedy of errors regarding a nonexistent corpse.
    On a shopping trip with his girlfriend Helen, Richard spots a petty kleptomaniac. Is the shoplifter something to worry about, or report? Mrs Baker is one of the stores better customers, an eccentric, and the store sends bills to her husband to cover for her.
    Meanwhile, a serious robbery has taken place, and Richard spots the scam.. though the crime has been stopped, Richard checks out the store for other signs of conspiracy. Is Mrs Baker involved somehow? Back in the police station, word of a suicide comes in, but Richard smells a rat with the death of Mrs Baker. Doing his own checking, Richard turns up another body. Dots are soon connected, and a confrontation is in store. With the details laid bare, the heat is turned up to expose the scheme of murder.

    A girl in her night clothes runs out to encounter Nick Carter. She shows him the scene of her brutally murdered uncle. The first assessment is that it’s a simple suicide, but the girl insists something else is afoot. Handwriting evidence seems to support her claims.
    Posing as a reporter, Nick learns details from Sara, the dead man’s wife. Has an important clue just crossed Nick’s path to link a murder conspiracy together?
    Barney McCoy is a recently released prison convict. Will it do to go to prison undercover to learn about a forged will?
    Now posing as a second story robber, Nick gets inside scoop on Barney, and a dame who marriec some ich guy for his money. So far his evidence is circumstantial, but a rison break may deliver the hard facts on Barney.
    Clues explode to the surface to expose a forged sill, and impoxterx in the family. Armed with facts, Nick formulates a plan to trap his killers.

    Robbery Detail. An armed robber is on the loose, and terrorizing the city.
    On the chilly shift on daywatch, Joe Friday joins Ben Romero in their patrol cruiser. The jewelry store owner recounts the details of the armed robber, and his escape. While fleeing, the robber crashed into a truck, and the driver tells it how he saw it. A twist means a suspect is easily picked up. In voiceover, Joe describes background of Nicolai, and his quick escape from his cell.
    The robbery spree continues. Becoming more desperate, Nicolai expands the kind of stores he holds up. Joe goes to do more interviewing of the crime victims. Why didn’t the humble candy store owner reportt his robbery sooner? Joe describes the trail left by Nicolai, and that he has picked up a partner to help him.
    Pressure is on as the territory of the robbers expands. A lucky break comes while staking out a bar. There are 2 partners who are picked up, and they readily offer information on Nicolai. A confrontation, and an explosive end comes in the form of a burst of gun fire and fists.

  • Sherlock Holmes – The Second Generation. ep194, 451217
    Long time friends share a moment as Holmes plays a haunting melody on his violin. Active practice of detective work is well behind them, but Watson wonders if Holmes ever thinks of pursuing cases again. Preposterous! But you know what that means… a case is about to be laid in their laps.
    The daughter of “the Woman” has brought a case to the great detective. She is being blackmailed by Mr Stanley, who has incriminating letters. They stand to impact her impending wedding if they become known. Will Sherlock go as far as use his unconventional methods to steal the letters? Disguises are donned, and the old sleuths prepare to get to work.
    Posing as priests who are raising money for charity, Holmes and Watson get their foot in the door, but has a trap been laid for the detectives? There’s still a trick up the aging sleeve of Sherlock. But are the letters non-existent? What is really in the filigree box, and will Sherlock’s turn about be what it takes to warn the girl from a life of crime like her mother had taken? Or has Sherlock once again been duped by a woman?
    PS: for those who missed the previous episode, or know nothing of the classic tales written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, “The Woman” is how Holmes refers to an arch nemesis, Irenie Adler. The one woman who outsmarted him, and got away.

  • Richard Diamond – Lady In Distress. ep86, 510223
    On the outs with his best gal Hellen, and in need of cash after losing money on the horses, Richard needs a client. The hot, weeping woman who enters his office may not get him any points with Hellen, but she’s just the ticket to pay his bills. Richard is soon tracking down a mystery woman, and along his way he discovers a mink coat with a pistol inside. When a body is found, the heat is turned up but the search only gets more tedious in its dead ends. More bodies pile up, and Richard goes to learn what he can from his police detective friend, Walt.
    How did the weapon owned by the dead woman, and found on her person, manage to kill the other body after she was murdered? Richard is sure there’s a double cross going on, and heads to see a sultry dame. Besides more dead ends, it only wins the hard boiled detective a thump on the head.

    Will he get the message that somebody wants him to mind his own business?
    Waking up to face Walt, Richard learns the key clues he needs to wrap up this case. A counterfeiting operation is exposed, but the bad guys aren’t going down without gun play. Walt plays the cop role and tends to the crime scene, while Richard leaves to take down the brains behind the outfit who just got away. Not a lot of surprises about who it is, but listen in to see how Richard puts the pieces to the mtystery together.
