After failing around midnight, a glitch in the Microsoft owned CrowdStrike crippled travel, hospitals, banks, government services and countless other businesses. While things have slowly gotten back to normal, WWJ's Tony Ortiz says it left plenty of headaches behind.

As the sun heats up, officials at AAA of Michigan believe this might be the busiest season of travel since the pre-COVID summer of 2019. During COVID, cruises took the biggest hit but they've returned as one of the most popular vacation options.

A 33-year old Dearborn woman is dead following a crash this morning along Michigan Avenue. Police tell WWJ that the woman was hit by another driver who ran a red light while speeding. The other driver remains in critical condition.

Earlier today, a Detroit jury hung, say they could NOT reach a verdict in the murder trial of Michael Jackson Bolanos. Jackson Bolanos is accused of killing Woll, a prominent Detroit Jewish leader, last October. Prosecutors haven't decided if they'll try him again.

A standoff with a barricaded gunman in Redford Township is over. Police were able to get the man out of the house and arrest him at a home near 7 Mile and Inkster. No word yet on what lead to that standoff.

New on WWJ: The jury was not able to come to a consensus on the murder or home invasion charges against Michael Jackson Bolanos. Bolanos was found guilty of lying to police. Woll, a prominent local Jewish leader, was stabbed to death at her Detroit home back in October.

The Redford Township SWAT Team is dealing with a barricaded gunman inside a home near 7 Mile and Inskter. It's not clear what lead up to the situation but police continue to communicate with the man through a bullhorn.

Democrats in Michigan are calling out the record of Donald Trump's running mate. WWJ's Jon Hewett reports that Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow says there isn't enough focus on Vance's record.

Happening in Orion Township, the Oakland County Sheriff says a 67-year old man was a shot and killed while trying to break into the home of his ex-girlfriend. WWJ's Darrylin Horne reports that the woman's stepson shot the suspect in the head as he attempted to hurt the victim.

Despite many calls from high level Democrats for Joe Biden to step down, WWJ's Jon Hewett says that Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlan Gilchrist is affirming his support of the sitting president.

In Michigan, Vice President Kamala Harris for the first time addressed the assassination attempt targeting former President Donald Trump, saying that "violence is never acceptable."
The VP spoke before a moderated discussion regarding reproductive health with former Trump administration official Olivia Troye and reproductive rights advocate Amanda Stratton at Air Zoo in Kalamazoo, Wednesday.
