On today's episode, Zack and Leslie are proud to announce our Spotify account!
We start off going over some Red Wings and other hockey related news.
- Somehow we missed that Erne was out due to injury
- Husso out due to lower body injury DTD, Alex Ned recalled on emergency loan from GRG to the DRW for Thursdays game
- Grand Rapids Griffins sign MSU Goalie Dylan St. Cyr to a PTO on Friday
- Filip Zadina out with a lower body injury on Friday considered DTD won’t play Saturday against Flyers
- Rogle knocked out of playoffs. What does this mean for Kasper and Wallinder?
- NCAA Hockey Tournament began on Thursday March 23rd
- Does Mazur and Buium sign their ELC’s?
- WMU was also knocked out by Boston University 5-1. BOOOOO
We then move on over to discuss the last two games for the Detroit Red Wings.
Wings vs Blues Thursday:
- Red Wings lose 4-3 Hellberg and Ned in net
- Red Wings played a strong 1st period, but once st. Louis started scoring, the Red Wings ultimately just gave up until they let them score 4 unanswered goals.
- Simon Edvinnson scores the first goal of the game and his first goal of his NHL career, but sucks the celebration was spoiled by a Matt Luff who thought it deflected off him but really hit the st. Louis blue player. GOOD FOR YOU BIG ED! He also got some playing time with Seider towards the end of the game
- Jake Walman snipes the second goal against his former team, he played a really good game.
- The Red Wings then had to pull Hellberg after letting in 3 straight goals that weren’t that hard to stop IMO, and Ned got to go in and lets in 1 on the first shot…
- Chiasson then was able to find one late in the 3rd with about 2:15 left with the goalie pulled making it 4-3, and that about does it for the game.
- Overall, Edvinnson was the only bright spot in this game. He made some amazing plays one where he made a diving effort to stop a potential breakaway, and was getting involved in some scrums while also laying some hits out there and jumping into plays while also starting some.
- To now be a negative nancy, he did give up 2 penalties to the blues and once again, needs to be careful with his poke checking.
- Joe Veleno also showed some really nifty stick work out there and continues to catch my eye as the season dwindles down. We notice you Swolleno
- Red Wings really need to stop being hard on themselves, giving up, when they get scored on. Especially when youre up 2-0 early in the 1st period.
Wings vs. Flyers Saturday:
- No Zadina, Ned gets his first start since December 8th, 2022
- No Simon Edvinnson
- Wings lose 0-3 they really really sucked
- Wings went 0-7 on the powerplay…
- Piss poor effort overall by the team and clearly what happened Thursday transitioned to Saturday
We then close off by going over the standings once again! As I am currently typing this, the Red Wings have now fallen to 8th in the draft lottery, if it were to start today thanks to a Vancouver win. We understand that this is when things really start to get difficult, especially for the fans you and I alike, and it begins to become tough to watch as the season dwindles down and not much to really watch for other than young players and certain UFA players trying to earn their next contracts.
