Often we have experienced anger throughout many seasons in our lives. Society would have us develop ways to only temporary experience this feeling and have us believe that life is about only happiness. But we see in these verses that God works in us when we are angry.

The word mercy in the psalm is the main theme of this song. It teaches us the appropriate plea in times of distress.  If you were experiencing hardship I encourage you to ask God for mercy vice asking for your troubles to be put away.  This spiritual discipline of asking for mercy allows us to engage in a new experience with God.  I encourage you to seek mercy as well as extend mercy to others.

Today is the day after the nation celebrates MLK.  The call to do justice is echoed throughout the psalms.  Here we see God focused on the fatherless and the oppressed. It is through today that God draws special interest in these groups.  Throughout your workday try to make an effort to see these two groups and comfort them vice trying to fix them. Be present with them and know that all are loved by God.
