Looking to right the ship against one of their biggest rivals, the Devils came out flat against the Flyers on Saturday in Philadelphia. Though the game was tied in the third period, a late goal gave the Flyers the lead before they tacked on two more empty-netters.

The Colorado Avalanche were too much to handle at Prudential Center on Thursday night, as the Devils lost their first game of the season, 5-3 to the Avs. Despite Taylor Hall and Nico Hischier each netting their first goal of the season, there was plenty to be desired from the effort. On top of that, Travis Zajac left the game with a suspected leg injury.

Another game and another win for the Devils. Though it might not have been their most all-encompassing effort of the season, strong defense and great goaltending helped the Devils to a 3-0 win over the Dallas Stars. Kyle Palmieri stayed red hot and Blake Coleman and Jean-Sebastian Dea also added goals for NJ as they improve to 4-0-0 on the season.

While it wasn't their prettiest effort to date, the result was more of the same. The Devils used two third period goals to squeak past the San Jose Sharks 3-2 at Prudential Center.
