Communication tends to always fail, except by accident. And that is not because we wouldn’t try hard, but because we fall victims of assuming rational behaviour where in fact the situation is full of affect, emotion and behavioural biases: irrational beliefs or behaviours that can unconsciously influence our decision-making process. We unpack five common situations in product management, and discuss what behavioural biases present in the situations can lead us astray. We then prescribe what software professionals should do to avoid those biases. The speakers are Eva Höglin, Atlassian software and product management expert from Riada, now part of Eficode, and Markus Kanerva, a behavioural consultant and a senior lecturer in Laurea University of Applied Sciences.Related links:-Eficode Academy: https://hubs.li/H0PV_W70-Set the strategy to drive a successful DevOps transformation: https://hubs.ly/H0PV_ZG0Speakers:https://twitter.com/MarkusKanervahttps://www.linkedin.com/in/markus-kanerva-5529721/https://www.linkedin.com/in/evahoglin/Relevant content from Eva:Team Topologies: https://teamtopologies.com/Act Like A Startup: https://sloanreview.mit.edu/article/act-like-a-startup/SAFe: https://www.scaledagileframework.com/DevOps: https://devops.com/category/blogs/leadership-suite/Relevant content from Markus:A really fun book: Predictably Irrational, Revised and Expanded Edition: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions: Ariely, Dr. Dan: 9780061353246: Amazon.com: Books. https://www.amazon.com/Predictably-Irrational-Revised-Expanded-Decisions/dp/0061353248 Good introduction plus some management applications: Amazon.com: Judgment in Managerial Decision Making eBook: Bazerman, Max H. : Kindle Store. https://www.amazon.com/Judgment-Managerial-Decision-Making-8th-ebook/dp/B00AOAK26S/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=bazerman&qid=1622192646&s=digital-text&sr=1-2 This will make you a magician: Amazon.com: Pre-Suasion: Channeling Attention for Change (Audible Audio Edition): Robert B. A couple of years ago, continuous integration in the JVM ecosystem meant Jenkins. Since then, a lot of other tools have been made available. But new tools don’t mean new features, just new ways. Beside that, what about continuous deployment? There’s no tool that allows to deploy new versions of a JVM-based application without downtime. The only way to achieve zero downtime is to have multiple nodes deployed on a platform. And yet, achieving true continuous deployment of bytecode on one single JVM instance is possible if one changes one’s way of looking at things. What if compilation could be seen as changes? What if those changes could be stored in a data store, and a listener on this data store could stream those changes to the running production JVM via the Attach API?Nicolas Frankel from Hazelcast joined to share an approach that they have been experimenting with. Nicolas is accompanied in the talk by Aapo Romu, a software architect at Eficode ROOT team.Nicolas in Twitter: https://twitter.com/nicolas_frankelRelated links:- Design and create digital services to drive your strategy: https://hubs.li/H0PwMS70- An award-winning one-stop shop for DevOps tools: https://hubs.li/H0PwPbx0Related content:- Play to learn how to design the right Continuous Delivery pipelines: https://hubs.li/H0PwQzZ0- An Experiment in Streaming: Bytecode Continuous Deployment: https://hazelcast.com/blog/an-experiment-in-streaming-bytecode-continuous-deployment/- hazelcast-demos/bytecode-streaming on Github: https://github.com/hazelcast-demos/bytecode-streaming/- Warszawa Java User Group (WJUG) with Nicolas Frankel "Securing the JVM": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bgo7dcCbqV8&list=PL0EuBuKK-s1EL-K3okpYwR0QZbAPRVmEG&index=12- A streaming use-case: experimenting with bytecode continuous deployment - Nicolas Fränkel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j4RvI_vARQ&list=PL0EuBuKK-s1EL-K3okpYwR0QZbAPRVmEG&index=60- Beyond “Hello World” – Zero-Downtime Deployments with Hazelcast on Kubernetes: https://hazelcast.com/blog/beyond-hello-world-zero-downtime-deployments-with-hazelcast-on-kubernetes/Send us Fan Mail

All services go to the cloud. But many things can go wrong on the way there, and not all of those are due to everyday circumstances. We decided to more deeply explore those times when we can’t just blame the universe. In this episode, we review these factors in the context of Atlassian Cloud transformation.
