Acts chapter 15 tells of some Jews who began to raise questions about the faith of the Gentile converts in Antioch. These men believed the law, especially circumcision, was required for salvation. Of course, this debate didn't just affect Antioch. In the wake of Paul and Barnabas's missionary journey, Gentiles across Asia Minor had come to Christ without committing to the law or embracing any aspect of Judaism. As the disagreements intensified, it was apparent that all of the church body - Jews, Gentiles and Christians needed to address this question.
