Dewey Pod-Monster

TC 2000 (1993)

Directed By: T.J. Scott

Starring: Billy Blanks, Bolo Yeung, Jalal Merhi, That guy with the really blue eyes.

Crummy movie March... continues? The month - the theme is Terminator Knockoffs and this one kind of follows a story about underground rich people and above ground poor people and the police that keep them apart and then one gets turned into a cybernetic thing... or something. Oh, and Bolo Yeung talks and is actually a good guy! IMDB.com describes "TC 2000" as: "Somewhere in an apocalyptic future, where the rich live underground and the poor are left to fend for themselves on the surface by forming gangs, corrupt members of an underground security force plot to destroy the surface."

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)

Directed By: Rob Hedden

Starring: Jensen Daggett, Kane Hodder, Todd Caldecott, An annoying old man.

That pesky Jason Vorhees is at it AGAIN... This time he hitches his wagon to a senior class cruise out of Crystal Lake and after some tomfoolery he ends up in New York City (Manhattan specifically) to visit Macy's for some shopping, Madison Square Garden to see a boxing match, and to see where his family was admitted through Ellis Island. With so many different themes to talk about in this movie, we had to recruit some help - and thankfully Justin from Pop Culture Reflections and Jordana from Pretty Killer Podcast were able to do some heavy lifting to assist us.

Nemesis (1992)

Directed By: Albert Pyun

Starring: Olivier Gruner, Tim Thomerson, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, A guy from Cobra Kai and some other shit.

Crummy movie March rolls on, and if you hadn't heard - we're double themed up this month because we're looking at shitty Terminator knockoffs! Nemesis is only kind of loosely a Terminator knockoff in the respect that it's a bit of a noir, and it has a crappy robot fight at the end. IMDB.com has this to say about the 1992 film Nemesis: "Alex, a burned out LA cyborg cop, is forced by commissioner Farnsworth to find his former cyborg partner and lover Jared who's about to deliver sensitive data to cyborg terrorists who wish to wage war against humans. Is he being played?"

Shocking Dark aka Terminator II (1989)

Directed By: Bruno Mattei

Starring: Christopher Ahrens, Haven Tyler, Geretta Geretta, Someone from some other movie

We're starting this year's crummy movie March with a movie that we've seen pop up on some actor's IMDB page, and with a title like Terminator II, how could we not be intrigued - considering this crummy movie march theme is Terminator clones. IMDB.com describes Terminator II (aka Shocking Dark) as: "In a polluted future Venice researchers work to improve the situation. One day, unknown forces start killing them. A team of soldiers and a couple of civilians is sent to investigate. Soon, they encounter strange murderous creatures."

Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects

Directed By: J. Lee Thompson

Starring: Charles Bronson, Juan Fernández, Perry Lopez, Eggy

Our finale of Bronson month is a dark, gritty Golan-Globus production revolving around pimps and prostitutes, with Charlie smashing mustard (or nacho cheese) covered hotdogs into people's faces. It's probably one of the grimiest movies we've talked about on the show so far, and IMDB.com sums Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects up thusly: "A brutal Los Angeles police Lt. is determined to bust up an organization that forces underage girls into prostitution."

Murphy's Law (1986)

Directed By: J. Lee Thompson

Starring: Charles Bronson, Kathleen Wilhoite, Carrie Snodgress, The Cop - from Clue!

Charlie is at it again as a cop, and this time he's accused of killing his soon to be ex-wife. When he's not shot putting his groceries, he's flying helicopters, landing on barns, fighting bikers, and romancing the ladies. IMDB.com has this to say about Murphy's Law: "Framed for his ex-wife's murder by a parolee he once put behind bars, Los Angeles cop Jack Murphy escapes from custody to capture the killer, but he is now handcuffed to a foul-mouthed thief he had only just arrested."

Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988)

Directed By: John Carl Buechler

Starring: Terry Kiser, Jennifer Banko, John Otrin, a lady with telekenetic powers

The New Blood takes a little bit of a left turn as far as these Friday the 13th movies go. We're introduced to characters who have supernatural powers, birthday parties, and even a dead ninja dad. IMDB.com describes Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood as:"Jason Voorhees is accidentally freed from his watery prison by a telekinetic teenager. Now, only she can stop him."

10 to Midnight (1983)

Directed by: J. Lee Thompson

Starring: Charles Bronson, Lisa Eilbacher, Andrew Stevens, someone you can ask about their diabeetus.

Bronson month continues, and we welcome Sam back to the show from "To B or Not To B", "Screen Talk" and "Feature Creatures DTF", to talk about this interesting piece of Charles Bronson's catalog. Probably the closest thing to a horror movie he ever appeared in, "10 to Midnight". IMDB.com describes 10 to Midnight as: "An LAPD detective and his rookie partner are on the trail of a psychopathic young man who is murdering young women."

Our newest theme month begins - and this month we're concentrating on the the man who starred in many Cannon and Golan Globus productions - but this film is the one that broke the floodgate. We're talking about Charles Bronson and Death Wish. IMDB.com says this about Death Wish:"A New York City architect becomes a one-man vigilante squad after his wife is murdered by street punks. In self-defense, the vengeful man kills muggers on the mean streets after dark."

The Freeway Maniac (1989)

Directed by: Paul Winters

Starring: Kathryn Hauber, George Nicholas, Kevyn Shihadeh, A guy who ended up being Michael Myers

Continuing our streak of talking about movies that no one has ever heard of, today we're talking about The Freeway Maniac, where little Arthur, traumatized by witnessing his mother and some random trucker rubbing their hands on each other's backs, kills them both in a fit of... apathy? Now, Arthur's all grown up in the mental institution and confuses Linda with his mother. He'll stop at nothing to make sure that Mothe... errr... Linda pays for letting that truck driver rub his hands on her back - and he'll stop at nothing to infiltrate the shitty sci-fi b-movie production that she's involved in and kill everyone in between he and Linda. IMDB.com had this to say about the gem, The Freeway Maniac: "A crazed killer sneaks onto the set of a sci-fi film and begins murdering the cast and crew."
