ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ) ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰੋ (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੇਕ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਝੂਠ ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁਝਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਚੁਕੇ, ਤੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ (ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ) ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ। ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਇਹ) ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ-ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੪।੫।

DHANAASAREE, THIRD MEHL:

I am a sacrifice to those who serve the Lord. The Truth is in their hearts, and the True Name is on their lips. Dwelling upon the Truest of the True, their pains are dispelled. Through the True Word of the Shabad, the Lord comes to dwell in their minds. || 1 || Listening to the Word of Gurbani, filth is washed off, and they naturally enshrine the Lord’s Name in their minds. || 1 || Pause || One who conquers fraud, deceit and the fire of desire finds tranquility, peace and pleasure within. If one walks in harmony with the Guru’s Will, he eliminates his self-conceit. He finds the True Mansion of the Lord’s Presence, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. || 2 || The blind, self-willed manmukh does not understand the Shabad; he does not know the Word of the Guru’s Bani, and so he passes his life in misery. But if he meets the True Guru, then he finds peace, and the ego within is silenced. || 3 || Who else should I speak to? The One Lord is the Giver of all. When He grants His Grace, then we obtain the Word of the Shabad. Meeting with my Beloved, I sing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. O Nanak, becoming truthful, I have become pleasing to the True Lord. || 4 || 5 ||
