This week, guest Jamie Evans is a cancer survivor and the founder of Cannacomforts, a pioneer hemp company specializing in "healing the mind, body and south with the finest all-natural products on earth." Jamie survived cancer by moving to Colorado as a medical refugee. After discovering cannabidiol (CBD), it enabled him to get through chemotherapy and back to a normal life. He was eventually able to create CannaComforts, an industrial hemp company.

His testimony is one that is powerful and a showcase of the medicinal impacts of CBD and Hemp products. Learn more about his journey, his company and how he continues to build and be a pioneer in the rapidly growing industry of CBD and hemp products.

This week, I have Jeremy Here, host of Let's Talk Bruh - A podcast on black masculinity (@letstalkbruh), as a guest to discuss the history of his podcast and how he works to maintain a safe space for black men. Let's Talk Bruh is one of the podcasts I have followed for over 2 years and has brought me a tremendous amount of healing, knowledge and inspiration. Jeremy created a safe space for black men to be honest and vulnerable; a safe space for only black men to engage respectfully and celebrate the diversity of black men.  I wanted to know more about the history of LTB and how he manages this safe space for black men. All of this and more in this episode of Diary of a Mad Black Man. Dr. Lulu, a board certified pediatrician and youth suicide prevention activist for over 30 years shares this diary entry with me as we discuss the history of mental health, youth suicide and the stigma of mental health. We explore the stigma of suicide in the black community, especially as it relates to children and black men. I even open up a bit more about my own mental health challenges and suicide. These are heavy topics we discuss but this is extremely important to have conversations like this. I will continue to push through my own inhibitions to raise awareness and end the stigma of mental health and suicide.

After 17 years of marriage Queen Cole found herself having to navigate through creating a new life as a divorcée. But, instead of wallowing in the past, Queen picked up and moved to Dallas to re-establish her life and create a new purpose.  She currently is one of the hosts of an online talk show/podcast called Royal Tea Tv and she has her own segment called: My Dallas Life, that chronicles her adventures throughout the metroplex.

In this episode, we got together to discuss mental health and intimate relationships. We discuss the importance of having open, honest and effective communication within a relationship.  She gives  MANY tips on how she sustained a 17 year marriage, maintained her mental wellness and established healthy boundaries as a divorcée.

Toynia B. Edmond (@ToyniaBEdmond) is a Domestic Violence Survivor/Advocate who is the Board Secretary & Victim Services Advocate for Safe Space Property Management, Inc. located in Greater ATL. JKtheGM is one of the men behind the brand called “Let’s talk about Mental Health.” Jk, joined his partner Stevie (@steviepettus on IG), to expand the brand to bring awareness about mental health, support people being challenged and end the stigma around mental health. JK works with many organizations and is active in the Metro Atlanta community, to create safe spaces for black men to be vulnerable and talk about mental health. Once I mentioned I have a podcast, often discussing mental health, we quickly decided to collaborate. The topic was easy; “let’s talk about mental health.”

In true diary fashion, we sit down and simply do just that - talk about mental health. In acknowledging May as Mental Health Month, I felt compelled to go ahead and release part 2 of this series, I Quit Teaching. My mental health challenges is ultimately the reason why I left the classroom. This diary entry is the longest podcast I have produced to date and one of the most difficult diary entries I've created. 

I hope this message can be of inspiration to you.  To the teachers still in the classroom, I commend you on your work, effort and energy you give each day.

It is somewhat unfortunate that my mental health prohibited me from continuing my career. However, I am growing to be more grateful for this experience because it has helped me to become the man I am today equipped with new tools, strategies and knowledge about my mental wellness. Enjoy this diary entry as I share more about why I quit teaching.
