It’s a quick way to get from one topic to another, and it’s also a small scooter. This week is our longest episode ever! It covers Amazon’s Project Kuiper internet satellites, AMC and Universal agreeing on a proposal to handle films going to VOD, Antebellum being pushed to some nebulous time after Tenet is released, and a Friday the 13th board game that looks really cool!

And so it was, even if it was different from any Comic Con that’s been held before. Comic Con at Home gave us some cool news, and Max brought us a live report from Pokemon Go Fest while we were recording! From Comic Con we had a story about YouTube’s copyright algorithm taking down a CBS live stream of Star Trek in the middle of broadcast, the former TV station G4 is coming back next year, and Amazon is going to be airing an adaptation of the comic Paper Girls! Max also bring us news about Leornad Maltin’s King of Movies which is a tabletop game due out later this year and we’re very excited for it!

It really isn’t, but that doesn’t mean it’s not getting a sequel later this year. That’s right, Ernest Cline’s Ready Player Two is coming in November and that’s what Dan brought as his first story this week. Max then tells us about Little Monsters, a new live action film starring the Universal Monsters and made for the whole family! Dan lets us know then about the recasting of CW’s Batwoman as a queer black woman! Max finishes us up with a spoiler-free review of Amazon’s The Boys season 2 trailer!

We’re back! (Didn’t really go anywhere, but still) This week Dan’s got news about WalMart having drive-in movies in their parking lots and a new The Hobbit audiobook from Andy Serkis while Max has new John Carpenter music (exciting!) and a 4th of July message from Bill Pullman that really nails what America should be concerned about these days.

We do that a lot, but the weirdest this about this episode is that it’s a rare Max lead-off. He was so excited to share the news that Kanye West and Kid Cudi are making a Kids See Ghosts animated series that he just had to go first, and he had to show Dan what it was all about by making him watch the trailer live! Then Dan brings the confusing news that Pokemon is coming to the MOBA arena later this year, Max tells us that Ghostbusters is coming to some drive-in theaters (but sadly not the one near us!), and Dan rounds us out with some discussion about Disney’s decision to rebrand Splash Mountain away from the problematic Uncle Remus stories by replacing it with The Princess and the Frog.

That’s the million dollar question as states and countries look to reopen in this Corona world, isn’t it? This week Dan and Max have stories on movie theaters in California reopening to drastically reduced capacity, Fangoria being for sale again because their current owners were working with a know sexual abuser, Wonder Woman being delayed by Warner while they play with Christopher Nolan movies, and the fact that all of those boutique Monopoly boards you see have weird over-simplified rules.

Sorry Mom for the title, it was a good quote. And yet, with a title like that we aren’t talking about Blazing Saddles this episode. Dan’s got a story about the film industry in Britain starting back up again (albeit with intense safety precautions), Max tells us about the introduction of Chapters on YouTube to make navigation easier, Dan tells us about Good Omens winning a Nebula Award in a stacked category, and Max rounds us out with the discovery of over 300 Criterion Collection released available through HBO MAX.
