Ever notice how the thing you want most feels like it’s stuck in the dark?Drop a 🌱 if you’ve had to wait on something you couldn’t force. This conversation reminded me that waiting is a lot like film development: you protect the negative, trust the process, and hope what comes out is beautiful. Sometimes the delay is protection. Sometimes a closed door is saving you from an outcome that isn’t ready yet. If you’re in a season of “not yet,” this is your reminder: God may be developing something you can’t see yet. Worth the wait. What’s been hardest to trust lately? Listen to the full conversation

Ever feel like being “the wife,” “the friend,” or “the daughter” starts to swallow who you actually are? Save this if you needed the reminder - you can love people deeply without disappearing. We were talking about the difference between codependency and interdependence, and this hit hard:
Codependency says, “I can’t breathe without you.” Interdependence says, “I can stand on my own, and I still choose us.” Healthy love has boundaries, not pressure. That’s the whole shift - relying on God first, then showing up in relationships from overflow, not emptiness. You are not less loving because you have needs.
You are not selfish because you have a life outside of everyone else.
Maybe the real work is learning how to stay whole while still being connected.

You can love people deeply without losing yourself in the process. Save this if you’ve been confusing love with codependency lately - this is your reminder that healthy relationships have room for both closeness and boundaries. 👉I used to think being a good wife, daughter, or friend meant always being available. But the truth is, when I stopped making people my source, I showed up better for them. New Episode this Wednesday! #DifferentByAvenue #HealthyBoundaries #ChristianRelationships #Codependency
You can love people deeply without losing yourself in the process. Tag someone who needs this reminder. Especially if you’ve ever felt like being a good wife, friend, daughter, or sister meant disappearing a little. Healthy love has room for God first. Healthy love lets you show up whole—not empty.
Maybe the goal isn’t to need less.
Maybe it’s to stay full enough to love well.

Forgiveness is not always loud. Sometimes it’s just the moment you stop waiting for an apology that may never come. Drop a 🌱 if you’ve ever had to forgive someone who didn’t say sorry. Because holding onto it doesn’t punish them—it keeps you stuck. And sometimes the hardest person to forgive is family: the people you expected more from.
What changed my perspective was this: Forgiveness is for your peace, not their comfort. You can forgive and still set boundaries. You don’t have to keep reopening the same wound. If this hit home, save it for the next time resentment tries to grow roots. What’s harder for you: forgiving or letting go? Maybe that’s the real work.

Sometimes the real question is not, “Does this bother me?” , “Is this only bothering me - or is this actually affecting more than my feelings?”
If it’s just me, I might let it pass. But if it keeps happening and it starts changing the room, the relationship, or how I’m treated - I’m bringing it up. Comment “me too” if you’ve had to make that call.

I prayed, “use me however You see fit.” Then life got heavy and I immediately wanted to back out. If you’ve ever felt called into something bigger, but you’re tired right now - comment “me too”. Sometimes growth looks less like grinding and more like surviving the season you’re in.
Not every moment is for pushing harder. Some days, the win is staying afloat.
If you needed permission to breathe today, this is it. What season are you in right now?

Church hurt is real—but don’t let broken people make you quit God. Save this if you’ve ever felt unseen by church. Comment “me too” if this hit home.
The people I trusted weren’t always the people who reflected God well. That’s the hard part. Sometimes the hurt comes from judgment, not faith. Sometimes the hurt comes from a building that felt more like a rulebook than a home. Sometimes healing starts when you stop confusing people with the King.
I’ve learned this: functioning in a church is not the same as thriving in your faith. So if you’ve been hurt, I hope you keep looking.
Keep praying.
Keep choosing the kind of community that feels like open arms, not open wounds. Be the person you wish showed up for you.

The best communities don’t expect you to be “put together.”
They make space for the messy, honest, figuring-it-out version of you.
Tag someone who’s been a safe place for you.
That kind of support changes everything.

That’s when I knew Miami Church was home. Not the worship. Not the vibe. It was the way everybody showed up when a family lost their mom. Tag someone who understands what real community looks like.

Two lives. Two perspectives. One destination.
Welcome to Different By Avenue, a podcast hosted by Dee and Bre—two friends, wives, and believers navigating the messy,…
We believe that no two journeys look the same. Whether you’re walking the high-speed highway of a thriving career, navigating the "mommy boot camp" of the foster system, or finding your way back to faith through a radical U-turn, your path is valid, and your purpose is intentional.
Why "Different By Avenue"? Because we’ve realized that while our backgrounds and daily "avenues" might look different—Dee bringing the technical, creative, and "Proverbs 31-ish" perspective, and Bre bringing the raw, foster-mom, "tell-it-like-it-is" fire—we are both headed toward the same goal: growing in grace, strengthening our marriages, and honoring the God who designed our maps.
What to expect every Wednesday:
Whether you’re in a season of waiting, a season of building, or a season of just trying to get the kids to sleep, there’s a seat for you here. We aren’t experts; we’re just your girls who have already made the mistakes and decided to talk about them.
New episodes drop every Wednesday. Join the Avenue:
Because your avenue may be different, but you are never walking it alone.
