IT - Per inaugurare il nuovo anno, la prima puntata del 2026 di Diffusione Fiaba è dedicata alle Custodi di Meraviglia: scrittrici, raccoglitrici di testi popolari e cantastorie che, spesso ai margini della cultura ufficiale, hanno dato testimonianza scritta e voce alle tradizioni orali e alle fiabe popolari, permettendo loro di arrivare fino a noi. Ne parliamo con due ospiti d’eccezione: Elena Sottilotta dall'Italia e Liz Weir dall'Irlanda.
Con Elena Sottilotta (in italiano), ricercatrice dell’Università di Cambridge e autrice di Seekers of Wonder: Women Writing Folk and Fairy Tales in Nineteenth-Century Italy and Ireland (Princeton Press, 2025), esploriamo la storia di quattro scrittrici dell’Ottocento — Laura Gonzenbach, Grazia Deledda, Jane Wilde e Augusta Gregory — che hanno raccolto e trascritto fiabe e racconti popolari, sfidando i pregiudizi di genere e dando dignità a narrazioni escluse dalla cultura ufficiale.
Con Liz Weir (in inglese dal minuto 54), leggendaria cantastorie e autrice irlandese, attraversiamo oltre cinquant’anni di narrazione orale e il suo profondo legame con la tradizione celtica. Pioniera dello storytelling in Irlanda sin dagli anni ’70, Liz ha trasformato le storie antiche in un ponte vivo tra passato, presente e futuro.
Due prospettive diverse e profondamente complementari. Un episodio bilingue che intreccia ricerca, oralità e memoria collettiva, per (ri)scoprire insieme le Custodi di Meraviglia.

EN - To welcome the new year, the first 2026 episode of Diffusione Fiaba is dedicated to the Keepers of Wonder: writers, collectors of folk traditions, and storytellers who—often at the margins of official culture— have given written testimony and voice to oral traditions and fairy tales, allowing them to reach us today. We explore these themes with two exceptional guests: Elena Sottilotta from Italy and Liz Weir from Ireland.
With Elena Sottilotta (in Italian), researcher at the University of Cambridge and author of Seekers of Wonder: Women Writing Folk and Fairy Tales in Nineteenth-Century Italy and Ireland (Princeton Press, 2025), we delve into the stories of four nineteenth-century writers—Laura Gonzenbach, Grazia Deledda, Jane Wilde and Augusta Gregory—who collected and transcribed folk and fairy tales, challenging gender prejudice and giving dignity to narratives excluded from official culture.
