1. Sales make the world go around: everything from sales trickles down: designing, programming, engineering, building, planning, shipping etc. To me it feels like if no one sells anything then nobody “else” has to do anything - I.E. Supply chains are tied to orders & sales. It’s the Amazon effect. Good sales professionals move the needle. Just imagine if all salespeople across the world made 1 extra call every day. That would move the economic needle and that’s what I was trained to do. Think about how many more houses would be sold and the trickle-down effect that would have on the economy. So many connected industries would be impacted and benefit in a positive way. There are easily a dozen industries tied to the Real Estate industry and when a house sells they all spring into action.
2. Tradition Salespeople / Transactional Sales People will be obsolete someday soon. A Sales "professional" moving forward is going to have to provide way more than just facilitating the transaction. The modern Sales Professional will have to do way more: they'll have to educate, provide true tangible value and entertain. I don't mean entertaining by "wining and dining" - I mean; the actual Sales professional is the entertainer. They are the medium, the brand - using modern Social platforms to distribute and publish content - using Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube (going live on these platforms is a game-changer. less than 5% - probably closer to 1% are going Live consistently. Will you? All salespeople want to stay relevant and “Top of Mind” - those that do not or cannot embrace change are going to be irrelevant. The antiquated advertising and marketing strategies are becoming pointless & trivial today.
3. "Never Up, Never In". This is a term my dad used in life, on the golf course for fun although it had a massive impact on me. Basically, when you are putting in golf, the ball has zero chance of going into the hole if the ball doesn’t get up to the hole. My dad also used “Never Up, Never In general life terms to express getting "INTO" the game of life. Meaning; Get up and out of bed and get into the game. My dad was a career Sales professional and retired handsomely. My dad mastered the game of life, balancing making money and giving himself as much time to do exactly what he wanted to do. I’m sure you’ve heard the term “Showing up is half the Battle” - I truly believe this is changing rapidly from 50% of the equation to about 10% No longer can one just show up and expect to win business
