The book of Joshua tells the story of the Israelites conquest of the promised land of Canaan. Is it history? or is it just a story...
ABR has conducted archaeological digs at a couple of these conquest sites, so Henry Smith and Scott Lanser discuss some of the greater paradigms at play when scientists, historians and Christians debate if the events in the book of Joshua even happened, like the destruction of the cities of Jericho and Ai.

There are a number of ancient manuscripts and translations of the scriptures: the Masoretic Text, the Vulgate, and the Dead Sea Scrolls just to name a few. Henry Smith talks about one of them today with Dr. William Ross, and this one is called the Septuagint, which is the Old Testament translated into Greek.
Dr. Ross is Associate Professor of Old Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, N.C., and the Septuagint is his main area of academic study.

Ancient myths and poems like The Odyssey and The Iliad are referred to by scholars as "epic poetry." Well there is another ancient story out there that is even more famous, and has some pretty epic archaeology to back it up.
Henry Smith talks with Ted Wright, founder of Epic Archaeology, about his ministry of bringing the stories of the Bible to life through archaeology.

The city of Jerusalem was destroyed (for the first time) in 587/586 BC by the Babylonians. As a result of the siege and fire, there is a lot of archaeological evidence that has been discovered in that destruction layer.
Henry Smith discusses some of this evidence with Dr. Todd Bolen, professor of Biblical Studies at Masters University.

Can we trust the New Testament? Was Jesus a real person? The four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are all really old, how do we know if what we have today is what was originally written? What about some of these other gospels - the gospel of Thomas or the gospel of Peter?
Henry Smith talks with Dr. Craig Evans about these questions, and his book "Jesus and the Manuscripts." Dr. Evans is a biblical scholar, author, speaker, and a professor at Houston Baptist University.

Henry Smith and Scott Lanser discuss how ABR got started, and the excavations it has led during its 50 year history, along with how the process of archaeology actually works. They talk about Jericho, Shiloh and the lost city of Ai, and digs at Khirbet Nisya, Khirbet el-Maqatir, Tel Shiloh and Mt. Ebal. In these places were things like the Ark of the Covenant, the Tabernacle, an infant buried in a jar, and a curse tablet with the oldest written name of God found in Israel.
