Satellite CafeCast on October 11, 2019 for AO-92 @ 11:51pm

It was a chilly 40 degree moonlit night tonight with temperatures dropping below freezing before morning. I thought just maybe I'd have a good chance at making a contact while most hams would be in bed. Sure enough, I had success and made a contact with Larry Jones, NN4H of Nancy, Kentucky. 2-in-1 Satellite CafeCast for 10-09-19

Today I have combined two satellite passes into one CafeCast. AO-92, was a bit disappointing with little activity and seemed like some solar interference of some sort. The most active ham on this pass was Perry Yantis, WB8OTH of Ohio. He was struggling in the beginning trying to get any response. AO-91 occured just over a hour later with lots of activity during the entire pass. I heard several familiar calls including Michael, K9EI down in Texas. This was a good pass with lots of contacts being made on AO-91 which had an elevation of 70 degrees going from South to North. I hope you heard yourself. Did you take notes? How many unique callsigns do you hear on this pass? Was one of them you?

 Amateur Satellites are addicting. I recently built my own VHF Satellite Yagi and am having a ball listening to all the hams working each other on AO-91 and AO-92. I make it a point to record each pass and then go back and listen to capture all the different callsigns I hear. Did you know that there are many young people doing satellites, too? Come and meet some of them at the YACHT Net on the YACHT Echolink Conference Server and the DigiCommCafe Multimode Communications Network every Saturday night at 7:00 pm.
