Dr. Gene Selander begins the series of The Beatitudes. Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. The poor in spirit have nothing to offer God but He has everything to offer us. We just need to be conscious of: 1. Religion does not go deep enough. 2. Religion does not go far enough. 3. Religion does not go high enough. God doesn't want our strength and good will... He wants our surrender! In our weakness, He can make us strong and His strength can be seen through us. Like a beggar, we need to have the understanding of: 1. We need to be conscious of our need. 2. We are dependent upon others for His living. 3. We need to be honest about our "condition". We need to understand about eternal life! God gives us everything!

Pastor Mark Hill asks us, "What does worship mean?" What does it look like? We sing, pray, hear some teaching. It's time to review what we are doing here. Jesus addressed worship three times in the bible. Once with satan, once with the Pharises and also in John 4... looking for the spiritual worship and the head/mind truth worship. Worship is not just getting up and going to church and doing rituals. It is about building a culture/an environment where we it is an exercise of the Spirit and the renewing and training of the mind that we build into our lifestyle. It is an integrated opportunity: Information, Inspiration and Application. Where are we on our spiritual journey? If we are more advanced, we can disciple those needing to move up the trail.

Dr. Gene Selander asks us "What does it mean to be an "authentic Christian"? Since we have the new way, we do not lose heart? Why is it that people only want the church lite? What keeps them from letting the Lord deepen His truths in their life? They want others to join in as easy as possible. They don't want to have others deal with tough subjects. They themselves want to be protected from unnecessary types of hardship, resistance or in any case of maligning them. Religion is man's attempt to find God and Christianity is God's attempt to find man. DCC is committed to preaching the true Gospel.

Dr. Gene Selander continues with When God Rocks Your World Series. What is it that makes us stick together during a transition period? First we have to begin with forgiveness, then we have reconciliation, and then we have resolution. Like in the bible, the "jailors" are our unforgiving attitudes. Are we able to cancel the debt with our brothers and sisters? Anger and other feelings torment us and sometimes things get complicated. We have to realize that our sin towards God is equivalent to the national debt and our sin between others is equivalent to $2 bucks! We need to rise to a higher level and handle it better. It's time to cancel the debt and move forward as a team - To let God in and see what He can do!

Dr. Gene Selander continues with "When God Rocks Your World" series. This week is the "power of an intervention". Belshazzar, the king, taunted and mocked God and God is never mocked! What did the handwriting on the wall mean? Daniel was able to tell him that the first two words meant that the number of years had been counted out and his had come to an end/been terminated. The second word meant that God had found Belshazzar deficient.The third word meant "to divide". Belshazzar's kingdom had been divided and given to the Medes and Persians. God has set the stage; He will intervene and He will baffle you; and He will upset to reset. He allows things to happen, only to prune us so that we will become more like Him!

Dr. Gene Selander continues with the When God Rocks Your World series... this one with the subtitle, "The Power of an Interruption". "A 'second conversion', the way I'm defining it, is when God orchestrates people, events or experiences in a way that teaches you a new truth or expands your vision or softens your heart to some great need in this world and you wind up with your mind blown and your heart all jacked around." (Bill Hybels, Sr. Pastor of Willow Creek Community Church) A second conversion can: 1. Make all things equal. 2. Make you mad/angry. Four things about second conversions: 1. Don't expect 100 of them. 2. Don't hesitate to ask God to give you a second conversion. 3. Keep exposing your heart and mind to more of the Word of God, etc. 4. When you feel the world-rocking hand of God on your life, join Him in what He's doing!

Pastor Mark Hill talks with us today about when God rocked Peter's world. God is in the Reclamation-Redemption-Restoration-Renewal-Regeneration-Reconciliation-Rebuilding-Refining-Reformation Business! The four things that happened with regard to Peter are: 1. The Lie (John 13:6-11, 21-27) 2. The Look (Luke 22:60-62) 3. The Loss (John 18:15-18, 25-27) 4. The Loves (John 21:1-19) What did Peter leave with? What can we leave with? In 1 Peter 5, he speaks to the elders (leaders). During this transition, the elders should shepherd God's flock - Lead without lording over, serving without demanding compensation, being examples of life by trusting God, be serious enough to resist the enemy, humbling yourselves, so that in His timing, He will pick you up... After you have suffered for a little while, He Himself will restore you, making you strong, firm and established. Pastor Mark's hope is that we will allow God to walk us through the process out of our pain back to a place of value, joy, rebuilding, hope, love, faith, courage, all of the things He has built into us.

Dr. Gene Selander begins the series of "When God Rocks Your World-Part I". We are going to see what God does to us internally. When the Apostle Paul was brought to his knees, little did we all know that the whole world would be bowing to the eternal God very quickly. When God rocks our worlds, He:

Dr. Gene Selander asks us today, "How's your soul?" Paul is concerned about the apostles of the church because they are dying off. Will they be men who will continue the tradition of being true to Christ? He is looking at Timothy and concerned that Timothy has a good soul and is looking at three things: 1. His charge... the first thing is to pray. It's a person-to-God encounter. Transitions work on the soul. 2. His caution... We need to protect from heresy. 3. His concern... please proceed with continuity. When the soul is right, our behavior will be right. Transitions can bring forth transformations. We as a church can look out for each others souls. We can serve Him but we have to follow Him too!

Dr. Gene Selander continues with his transition series... God uses transitions to make sure we really believe for ourselves and not someone else. It is part of God's plan where we stop thinking this is the God of your father or your mother and make it your God. What made the transition of Isaac to Jacob so important were the lessons Jacob learned wrestling with the angel. 1. The Importance of Connection 2. The Importance of Protection 3. The Importance of Recollection. We need to look for God and see where He is working.
