Dr. Gene Selander shares with us why the bible is so important in our lives. The Word of God narrows the gap between what we believe in and how we act. We can be a people of joy and hope! With the Word, we will be more "for" stuff instead of "against" stuff. God's Word narrows the gap between faith & trust, being stuck vs. moving on, being against vs. for. Psalm 119 suggests how the bible is important to us: 1. More than food. 2. More than sleep. 3. More than money. 4. More than friends. Where would we be without the Word of God? It directs our paths, answers tough questions about life. Haddon Robinson said, "In every generation the Bible will challenge the values of the age & its definition of success. Augustine wrote, "The Holy Scriptures are our letters from home." Renoir suffered much pain in his hands and when someone asked why he still painted, his response was, "The pain is for the moment, but the beauty lasts forever." Such is the Word of God in our lives!
