After last week saw the conclusion to awards season, regular service is resumed today with another jam packed News & Reviews episode.
From a preview of upcoming family friendly fantasy romp 'Dungeons & Dragons' to reviews of the latest slasher sequel 'Scream 6' and touching Belgian drama 'Close', much more to boot!
It's that time of year again where awards season comes to a head and we celebrate by staying up too late and watching the Oscars live and report back to you once you've already found out the results. It's one of the many helpful services we offer as part of this podcast. So sit back, relax and enjoy the torture.
Okay so this episode took way too long to edit and I'm tired. It's a lent episode, we give things up, I might edit this description tomorrow, I probably won't. I'm so tired. Andy will moan about this being a bad description.
I think we can all agree guys, 9 is too many films for one episode. We'll never take a week off again now, this has taught everyone a valuable lesson.
It's the day of the big game! That's right, it's Super Bowl Sunday and we're celebrating in the only way we know how, by creating our own personal Mount Sportsmore!
Alex and Andy each pick 4 sports movies which they believe should be commemorated in form of a giant cliff face, sports mainstream and obscure are covered and picks remain mostly conventional.
Just a little quick episode (quepisode) to tide you over this week, Alex is away and we pre-recorded this placeholder as a result. We'll be operating full service next week anyway, enjoy!
After a month of no News & Reviews episodes it triumphantly returns with yet another overstuffed edition.
Andy talks about the box office sensations 'Avatar: The Way of Water' & Blumhouse's 'M3GAN', Alex covers off Cornish folk-horror 'Enys Men', awards nominated drama 'Aftersun', Irish creature comedy horror 'Unwelcome', Spanish grindhouse teen thriller 'Piggy' and the documentary 'Dreaming Walls'.
It's almost like we never left, news wise we get into the Oscar nominations and the Ant Man trailer.
Here it is folks, yet another magnum opus! The long awaited and prestigious Dinosaur Man awards for films of the year released in the UK in 2022. In what has become a long standing tradition we battle it out with our guest Paul Hudson to nominate and win in the big categories. Talking about big blockbusters and tiny indie films alike, it's our chance to honour the films we loved (and didn't love) in the last 12 months.
Listen in to find out which films are on the receiving end of some high praise this year!
Awards season has begun to pull into view and so we kick off our fortnight of awards episodes with a newer ceremony in the form of Game of the Year awards for games played in 2022 (although released in some cases 25 years ago). Andy doles out awards to a bunch of big and small names in the world of video games, mustachioed plumbers, Miltanks and Marvel's avengers all feature. Alex talks about the handful of games he played this year and once again has to reckon with the horniness of game developers.
As you may have guessed from the title, "It's Catchup Season Baby!". Alex and Andy have both been busy catching up with things missed earlier in the year over the festive period. Reviews include, and are limited to, Oscar hopeful ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’, documentaries ‘Wildcat’, ‘A Bunch of Amateurs’ and ‘The Sound of 007’, Netflix’s ‘Do Revenge’, Tollywood sensation ‘RRR’, musical adaptation Matilda', rom com 'Marry Me', Dreamworks animation 'The Bad Guys', 'Hit The Road', ‘The Worst Person in the World’, 'Resurrection', 'Flux Gourmet' & 'Glass Onion'
