Happy New Year!
As is now tradition (if traditions can be established after 1 year), the first episode of this year is the annual Dinosaur Man Draft! We find out how well our picks from last year performed before selecting our choices for the forthcoming year. This episode has it all, rule changes, Morbius slander, the word "pushbackable" and much much more!
Join in with the fun and select your choices for the upcoming critical and or commercial successes in this new year of movie making!
Ho ho ho! Welcome to this year's Dinosaur Man holiday special, our most extravagant and low effort special yet. It's a commentary track for a now beloved Christmas classic, 2021's 'Love Hard'. We've wanted to honour this film ever since last year's Netflix Christmas episode got ruined by gremlins (not the film), this was a fitting way for us to do that without having to rewatch two garbage Netflix films alongside it.
So open up Netflix, hover over that play button and enjoy the magic!
Reviews in our final News & Reviews of this year include the new stop motion 'Pinocchio', in depth German documentary 'Mr Bachmann And His Class', Apple TV+ festive musical 'Spirited', Macedonian Australian horror 'You Won't Be Alone' & 'The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special' from Marvel and James Gunn.
Enjoy it you lot.
After the rip roaring success of our2 previous deep dives into the world of Netflix original Christmas movies we return with another look into this years line up. We get into the ins and outs of three entries.
'The Noel Diary', 'Christmas With You' and 'Falling for Christmas' are the subjects this year. Unfortunately none of them are musicals but we live and learn, however there are always Christmas songs to be sung and Eggnog to be drunk, not to mention morals to impart!
Do they make us feel Christmas? Did Alex cry? Was there any point in reviving this format for a 3rd year in a row? Find out right here!
Due to popular demand this week sees Andy return to the podcast after his covid enforced break. Thankfully he's seen a film in the interim so at least he's pulling his weight when it comes to reviews.
We feature reviews of new cannibal romance adaptation 'Bones and All', the latest MCU film 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', tone shifting horror 'Barbarian' and documentaries 'Free Chol Soo Lee' & 'Three Minutes: A Lengthening'
Another minisode this week as Andy's currently indisposed, Alex takes time to review recent horror releases 'V/H/S/99' and 'Deadstream' (both available on Shudder now) while Andy's off. Normal service hopefully resumes next week.
It's another solo episode today as Andy has been struck down by a virus, so in this shorter mini episode Alex discusses the film 'United Passions' from 2014. A largely self funded FIFA propaganda film, what better way is there to commemorate the start of the 2022 World Cup?
I mean, thank goodness this is only a short episode as there probably isn't 90 minutes worth of discussion to be had about this film it's that misguided. Anyway, Alex watched it so you don't have to.
Well, here we are. Better late than never right? A nothing episode for a week where we genuinely had nothing to do and still managed to not release it in time.
It's what we in the industry regard as a fallow week for podcasting and as a result it's mainly chat with very little point to it.
Enjoy!
This week we welcome Andy back onto the pod for a jam packed News & Reviews. With 7 films reviewed and plenty of news the planned "quepisode" was never going to happen.
Reviews this week include DC superhero fare Black Adam. The finale of the Michael Myers saga in Halloween Ends. The reboot (maybe) of pinhead and the gang in Hellraiser and plenty more. Andy also finally wraps up his thoughts on House of the Dragon.
News features trailers for Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and Creed 3. There is talk about the Gran Turismo movie and Alex ranks all the Spice Girls in order of which ones he'd like to hang out with.
Nothing happens in the middle of the recording and the episode definitely wasn't recorded in two halves with the second making us unreasonably sadder for some reason. Don't worry about it.
If you want to contact us then message us on Twitter @DinosaurMan15 (while it still lasts).
This week Alex is joined by semi regular guest Paul to bring reviews of some of the special programming from the recently wrapped up 66th BFI London Film Festival. Between satellite screenings around the country and at home screenings on BFI Player, this year had a packed schedule with plenty for everyone. We take time to review six of this year's offerings ahead of their upcoming releases.
We bring reviews of the 'Knives Out' sequel 'Glass Onion', ultra rich satire 'Triangle Of Sadness', Brendan Fraser starring 'The Whale', 'Holy Spider' a Persian language crime thriller, ruminative documentary 'After Sherman', a journey to rediscover faith 'Crows Are White', 'Know Your Place' a coming of age journey in gentrifying Seattle, exploration of the birth of techno in 'God Said Give 'Em Drum Machines' & Ukrainian war drama 'Butterfly Vision'
