Direct Input Podcast

Hillarie Jason is a self employed artist who has quite the knack for shooting live bands. You might have seen her in a photo pit around the New England scene or even at Maryland Death Fest in Baltimore. Ever since her youth living on the Atlantic coast, Hillarie has dedicated her life to the pursuit of free will, creating and living through art; so it's only natural that we discuss what keeps her inspired throughout the years. We also consider what lies ahead for artists throughout the next 4 years as we are on the eve of the Trump administration's inauguration.

This episode was tracked at my home studio with a single condenser mic. There is a hint of background noise while my girlfriend prepares dinner. Since this technique is a new approach and totally unmastered, you should give your volume a boost in order to match up with previous DIP episodes featured on here. This is one of the more natural interviews/conversations I've hosted and I hope you enjoy!

We check in with a new Black Metal band that has some Death Metal flavor in their sound. Hear the origins of how this newly formed group came about. We also present a first hand account of the fiasco that was Messe des Morts VI in Montreal during November of 2016, where a certain bass player was accused of being a Nazi; despite him being Chinese and playing with one of the most culturally diverse bands around. A certain enigmatic drummer also expresses his love for various Christian Metal bands throughout the genres. We had a blast tracking this one! We invite all to listen to one of the more fluid podcasts we've had the pleasure of presenting this year.

It's always an absolute delight and pleasure to experience Hessian, one of the finest New England Metal bands. These heavy metal men from Maine rejoice as we discuss the virtues of growing up in the Maine Metal scene, along with several fascinating takes and tales on living along the drowned coast. You can hear we've certainly had a few, as I recant my travelings to the land of California to witness the resurrection of the mighty Cirith Ungol, who reunited for their first show in 25 years at Frost and Fire II in Ventura. 6 Nights in California can do wonders for a lifelong Masshole. Here me roar with tales of sunsets, food service fuck ups and headbanging in heavy metal heaven.

Dr. Stephanie Robinson is an incomparible figure. It's impossible to sum her up in this brief yet thorough interview. Whether she is performing live music, writing/recording in the studio, spending hours every week devoted to tattooing or running a casual half marathon on a daily basis; she is one of the most motivated women you could ever meet.

Also be sure to check out the podcast she produces, Glamour Smashed Face. The first episode features myself, getting pampered with an exfoiliating mask and pedicure. Hilariously fun times!
