There was an idea, Liz knows this, called the Direct to Audio Podcast. The idea was to bring together a group of film lovers, see if they could chat to create something more. See if they could work together when we needed them to discuss the movies we never could... or something like that. Welcome to the movie quote game, and this time we light Avengers tower to call Liz to the show to challenge host Spencer in a battle of MCU movie quotes. Liz has tried to win 2 quote games in the past, and she should've gone for the head, as she is 0 for 2. This time, she has come to bargain, and came up with the MCU quote game, which is a tough battle, as Host Spencer can do this all day. Both cursed with knowledge of all the MCU movies, it will be a battle of wit and determination, to see who is truly worthy to wear the Movie Quote crown... or in this case gauntlet.

What is this, some kind of Suicide Squad Review? Yes it is! The new James Gunn led "Kinda Re-Boot" is out, and Spencer is here to discuss his thoughts on it! As always, there is a 10 minute spoiler free portion where anything covered in a movie poster or trailer is discussed (as well as the letter grade for the movie), then the pod is launched into full on spoiler mode! Here's a quick spoiler: This is MUCH better than the original take on the group of B level super-villains trying to save the world. Place your bets on who lives, who dies, and who Spencer's favorite character was in the movie (I mean, isn't it obvious? Only one of them is a giant man shark voiced by Sylvester Stallone), and jump into this movie review!

The Toon Squad is back, but this time instead of His Airness helping them win, we have King James taking the court against the newly designed Goon Squad. It's a whole new ballgame (literally), and a modern take on one of the most pivotal 90s sports movies of all time. The biggest question: Does it live up to it's predecessor? We discuss that in 2 sections of this podcast: The spoiler free portion at the beginning, and then the spoiler filled portion afterward. We wanted to take an episode to pay homage to one of the great filmmakers of our time: Richard Donner. From directing classic films like The Omen, The Goonies, and Superman to producing iconic films like the Lost Boys & X-Men, Donner had a career that spanned over 50 years that covered multiple genres and formats. Max is back on the pod with me to discuss someone who is a key factor in our love of movies & cinema, and we wanted to pay our respects to someone who has inspired so many people in the film industry, and sadly who is gone, but will never be forgotten. RIP Richard Donner, the biggest Goonie of them all.

"You did it. The crazy son of a b*tch, you did it" Dr. Ian Malcolm, who was actually saying this quote to this podcase after deciding to cover this classic. It is Liz's Birthday, and we are celebrating by talking about and breaking down one of the greatest movies ever made (and one of our personal favorites): Jurassic Park! We discuss why it's a masterpiece, make a few too many Friends references, gawk over Muldoon and his manliness, and quote this so many times you would think we were doing an amateur high school play production of the movie. So, as life found a way to make dinosaurs exist, we found a way to keep this episode under 2 hours. So, enjoy, and WELCOME... Did we just make a different version of 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon? Yep pretty much! Max & I play a game this week where we try to connect 2 movies together based on common actors they share (example: Monsters Inc to Goodfellas - Monsters Inc. has John Goodman, who is in The Bee Movie with Ray Liotta, Ray Liotta is in Goodfellas). Each of us tries to have the lowest score by connecting the shortest connection between films. Does it get hectic? Kinda. Do we bring up Anchorman 2, Mars Attacks, and I Spy a few too many times? You bet. 

Grab your trapper keeper, your cool pencil toppers, and make sure to save a seat for your best friend because class is in session! Professor Spencer is here with a new podcast format where we discuss specific things about film history, filmmaking, or any other film topics that are in the syllabus. This week, we will discuss a topic that has come up many times on the podcast: The National Film Registry. This  of the Library of Congress is home to MANY classic pieces of American Cinematic History, and has come up many times on the podcast (Star Wars, Pulp Fiction, etc). Today we will discuss what it actually is, how it came to be, and some fun pieces of info that you may or may not have known! So sit back, take notes, and if you have to use the restroom make sure you grab the hall pass. 

It's a period of Civil War. The Star Wars Fandoms cannot decide on what movie or trilogy is the highest ranked. A call was sent out, saying "Help us podcasts, you're our only hope." The message was received by the Direct to Audio Pod, and we are here to save the Galaxy! Or, possibly, It's a Trap! Max, Liz, & Spencer join together to discuss the Star Wars movies, and go through the Star Wars movies from worst to best based on their average review scores. We do what we must, as we cannot simply try to do this task. It is important, and many Bothans died to get us this information... or maybe we just looked it up online & did a lot of math.
