Mike Bassett: England Manager (2001) is a satirical mockumentary film about a journeyman manger from the football league who is given the national team job just in time for the 2002 Brazil World Cup. Directed by Steve Barron and starring Ricky Tomlinson as the titular hero, the film quickly became a cult classic because of its razor sharp satirising of the England National team and everything that surrounds it.

The Art of Football A-Z with John Cleese is a madcap, slapstick, beautiful and controversial journey through the history and philosophy of football, written by and starring the aforementioned Monty Python comedy legend.
We picked this movie for the podcast this week because we had a sneaky suspicion it would be terrible. Will that prediction hold true?

Takeover, the breaks over! The podcast returns from an extended break to cover the highest grossing football movie of all time - 2005's family comedy Kicking and Screaming. Starring Will Ferrell and Robert Duvall, and directed by Bob Dylan's son Jesse, Kicking and Screaming is the story of how with a little help from an NFL Hall of Famer and a lot of help from premium coffee; a ragtag team of underdogs can win the U11s Football League.
After this we have a slightly looser mash-up, which focusses more on real world football events of recent.

The hiatus is over and we're back with DoF history - our first TV Show review! Directed by Thorold Dickinson, The Arsenal Stadium Mystery is a 1939 thriller/murder mystery/comedy (we don't get it either) set and filmed at Highbury. Arsenal are playing a friendly against the fictional 'Trojans', who's star player drops dead in the middle of the match. This death is then investigated by Inspector Slade (Leslie Banks), who suspects murder.
This week we were fortunate enough to be joined by Arsenal expert Tim Stillman. Tim writes about all things Arsenal, and is a regular on the Arsenal Vision Podcast. Oliver spoke to Tim about the film, Arsenal in the 30s, George Allison, as well as 'Royal Arsenal - Champions of the South', the book he co-authored with Andy Kelly and Mark Andrew about Arsenal's late 19th century beginnings. You can find him on twitter @stillberto
For those who want to go straight to Oliver and Tim's chat, skip ahead to the 21st minute. After which Oli and Jack do a new and improved mash-up. Enjoy the show!

Directed by Ken Loach, Looking for Eric stars Steve Evets as Eric Bishop, a Mancunian postal worker who's dealing with various marital and parenting related problems. Then suddenly, at his lowest point, Eric Cantona appears and turns his life around.
On this weeks show we were lucky enough to be joined by Olivers friend and colleague, Ellisha Izumi, who provided the show with some atypically precise insight. Her interview with Oliver starts at the 28 minute mark. You can find Ellisha and her work on twitter @ellishawith2Ls
