The path to joy is not found looking inward where our sinful nature steers us to anger, bitterness, jealousy, fits of anger, or anxiety. Joy comes from knowing God and the life-changing truths found in the Bible. It, together with love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are all ours every day in Christ.

Sinners sinning against sinners. It is the perfect environment for bitterness to take root. God warns against it because it gives the devil a foothold into our lives. Bitterness destroys relationships and that doesn't end with people.

Who is king of your life? As Christians, we know that Jesus is our king. Yet the temptation is to keep God out of certain areas of our lives, to choose instead to do what is right in our own eyes. Let us follow Jesus' example and fully submit, trusting that God's ways are best.

God commanded the prophets to tell everything he shared with the people of Israel. As Christians, we are called to be disciple-makers, ambassadors that teach all the Bible to the world. Are we faithful to this calling?

God and power go together. God works powerfully to bring us to faith. God works in power to make us new creations. God fills us with the power of the Holy Spirit to do His work in the world. The next generation needs to know God and His powerful acts, not powerless religion.

What parts of your life aren't working? You can usually identify them by the areas filled with anger, anxiety, selfishness, or pride. Are you willing to be humble? Are you ready to hear what God says? Are you willing to do what it takes to align your life with God's Word?

Imagine a home filled with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. One where we bear with each other and forgive one another. A place that is defined by love that brings unity. A home full of peace, thankfulness, encouragement, and singing praises to God. It sounds heavenly and it is what God desires for all families.
