The Word of God. There is nothing like it.

The Word of God is the only medicine God has prescribed for spiritual healing. It is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.

The question becomes, "how do we use the Word Of God?"

Do those we mentor stand in awe of God's Word?

Do they know that it is 100% true about everything?

Do they understand the place of God's Word in spiritual warfare?

Those we mentor need to understand the wonder of this book.

If there is a general theme in Paul's writings, it would be encouragement in the midst of trials.

A great part of Paul's mentoring became a ministry of the magnificence of seeing the grace of God as it could only be seen through life's storms.

How do we, as Paul, encourage others in difficult straits? In one sense, we need to be willing, if need be, to suffer to teach and demonstrate the grace that suffering provides - the strength that only weakness appropriates.

One arena in which Christians often get discouraged is in the area of this world's goods.

The greatest keys to discipling in this matter are that of priorities and pressure.

There are several principles clearly revealed in Scripture that will help us help others overcome conflicting priorities, as well as the pressures of conformity that create depression and discouragement.

Why do we get discouraged? Discouragement is universal to the human soul, but the levels of discouragement and what it takes to overcome that discouragement will vary.

The sources of discouragement are many, but God has also provided the solutions. In order to begin encouraging, we first need to take time to look for the source of discouragement.

Once that is found we are then able to place an overlay of God's perspective on top; there lies the true encouragement.

In examining the concept of mentoring by teaching, two main examples stand out - how Jesus taught the disciples and how the Holy Spirit teaches us.

Teaching involves correcting, redirecting, and encouraging. Each of these are used by Jesus as a method of teaching that leads to transformation.

Transformation is the end product of true mentoring. Learn how to mentor God's way through God's Word.

We've looked at why we are to mentor by reminding, and we've looked at what we are to be reminded of. How can we see that the process goes on?

There are very practical ways that we can create reminders for both ourselves and our families. The two keys to doing this are: tying everything God has done to His Word, and memorizing it and meditating on it.

The key to doing this is something called accountability. We don't want to come to the end of our lives having forgotten to remember - but rather leaving a legacy of God-given memories to those around us.

In our last lesson we looked at the importance of remembering.

In this second lesson on remembering, our focus will be on what we are to remember. There are four key things that all Christians need to remember.

Satan is ready to snatch from our minds the memory of the wonderful things God has done on our behalf.

As we continue the series on mentoring, we see Moses conducting a class in "Remembering 101" in his school of discipleship.

He plans to teach four things: 1) reasons to remember; 2) some things to remember; 3) the ways to remember; and 4) a plan for remembering.

We must prepare to remember, because the older we get, the harder it gets unless we begin early to make provisions for the next generation.

This is the last study on mentoring by intercession. This lesson looks at how and why the Spirit of God intercedes for us as we pray.

We also will see how the Son of God is in heaven continually making intercession to the Father on our behalf. Also, this lesson takes us back to the beautiful picture Jesus painted in John 17 as He approached the Father, praying for us.

We must learn how to stand in the gap for others just as Jesus continues to do for us.
