We can make wise decisions.

By examining the absolutes of Scripture in the light of God's character and laying them over the grid of the purpose and the priorities of the Christian life, we can discern what is His good, and acceptable, and perfect will.

In this lesson we will look at what God's purpose is and what the priorities of our Christian life should be, so that we can establish that grid.

The right decision is the one that will bring the most glory to God, and God will never go against His Word, His principles, or His priorities.

Our society no longer considers that there are absolutes - nothing is considered certain or unchanging. Making a correct decision in a world like that is virtually impossible.

On what do, we base our decisions. However, there are absolutes, and they are found in the nature of God and His Word.

Absolutes are God's permanent laws that apply to every child of His, in every age.

In this lesson and the next, we will look at some of those absolutes.

Perhaps you are struggling to find the will of God, praying daily for insight, but somehow God seems to have His ears closed. It is as though He does not hear.

So many studies on the will of God overlook this one key: A heart that is not right with God cannot receive the leading of God because its cries cannot reach the ears of God.

God cannot hear your cry for direction unless the sin and the rebellion and the filth that may have crowded into your life have been washed away. Then He will be free to hear you, and you will be free to follow Him.

The first key to finding the will of God is to accept him as Savior and Lord. We can't know God's Spirit, if God's Spirit is not living in us. The next step is to seek God's will, not doing what we want to do then asking God's approval.

We have a new purpose now, and it is a spiritual purpose. Every decision made is based on how if affects the Kingdom of God.

That will not always lead us down the easy road. The will of God is seldom the path lined with the aroma of flowers and the scent of success. But our prayer should be the same as Jesus', "Father, Thy will be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven."

Just what is the will of God?

Our purpose in this study will be to let the Scriptures provide their own definitions.

We will learn that the will of God is good, acceptable, and perfect.

The moment we become Christians, doing the will of God will become our total objective in life.

From these basic observations that the Word makes about the will of God, we will begin to formulate a definition of God's will.

How would you like to fill the shoes of Elijah?

That was the task to which God had called Elisha. It is also the story that begins our series "The Will of God".

We will look at the realities of Elisha's calling and his response to that calling. It will be our goal to look at this in the light of how God calls His children: from what, to what, when, where and why.

The purpose of this lesson is for us to see adultery from God's perspective - adultery of the eye, mind, will, body, spirit - and having seen it from God's perspective, never again to toy with immorality.

Can we walk through fire and not be burned? Can we toy with immorality and not be burned? We cannot.

God has erected sign posts in His Word that clearly warn us: "Danger: Hot Coals - Stay Away."

The power to behave is not based on our determination, but on God's nature, imputed to us by virtue of the new birth.
