God is saying that the real you apart from some form of divine intervention is the most deceitful thing in all the world. Nothing else and no one else is more likely to sell you a lie than your own heart.

God said it. It is not only deceitful above all things, it is desperately wicked. That means, that left to itself, you, apart from God, would do anything that would satisfy your own desires.

The more you meditate, the more respect you have for God’s Word, God’s ways, and God’s works.

As God exalts His name through His Word, you honor His Word in your heart. It is a natural byproduct.

Don’t wait until you “feel” like it. Once it begins to take hold of you, you’ll feel like it. Until you do, Satan will try to tell you it’s not working.

Comfort and renewal. Strength and redirection. Encouragement and power. They are ours for the taking when we get desperate enough to fall down before God and cry out for His Word to be our comfort and our guide.

The problem is, most of us don’t tremble at His Word until we have been afflicted. Like Job, most of us, once afflicted, will begin to squirm and justify and lash out at both man and God before we’ll admit that what is happening to us is good.

The word of God is food, too. It, however, feeds that portion of the nature of man that edifies, sustains, and transforms in the spirit realm.

Given a choice, it is better to feast on God’s Word even at the expense of our “necessary” food; food or things that seem essential to the natural man, but compared to things eternal are expendable.

One source of truth is the Word of God. Whether we are reading, studying, or memorizing it for ourselves, or listening to someone else preaching or teaching it, we cannot learn anything apart from God’s Spirit.

That dependent relationship on our Interpreter is so crucial to the process of transformation that God has reminded us over and over in His word that understanding His Word is the result of what He teaches us.

In this lesson, our excursion continues as we try to examine what the Psalmist meant when he asked God to open his eyes.

We want to know what it means to “behold wondrous things”.

May God’s precious grace enable us to stand even more in awe of Him and His Word as we do.

We will be scanning the pages of the written Word for information about how that Word can change our lives.

The doorway we will use to enter will be Psalm 119. Nowhere in Scripture is Scripture more clearly defined than in that one chapter.

Rather than taking that chapter verse by verse, we will take it topically, cross-referencing each subject with the rest of Scripture.

Our goal will be to find the mind of God about the Word of God using the Word of God itself as our textbook.

What about those nagging unanswered questions that surface again and again when the will of God is discussed, and that surface again and again when we are counseling or seeking counsel? We would like to discuss at least a handful of those before we close this series.

As we conclude this series, we also need to address the subject of God's timing.

God will always seem slow and there may often be delays, but He is working a work in us on His timetable.

We need to let Him alone to finish His work in us; whatever it takes, however long it takes. God has a plan.

How can we engrave Scripture on our hearts, so that when decision-time comes we will know what the Word of God says?

This lesson lays before us the concept of memorizing a thread of Scripture in which one Scripture leads to another. Each builds on the one before it, until we possess a Scriptural package that surfaces the will of God about a given subject.

After knowing the will of God on a certain subject, the final key is just to do it. Studying about the will of God is not the answer, and neither is memorizing Scripture concerning His will, but doing the will of God is what pleases Him.

How do we pray for the will of God, and what does praying for the will of God really mean?

Once we are in harmony with God's absolutes, how do we find His specific will for our lives?

Prayer is the answer to finding the will of God.

As we pray, we are to continually and expectantly give every day and every hour over to His Lordship, specifically asking that His will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

We are to pray until our hearts are so intertwined with God's that to face a cross would be glory. We are no longer pleading with God to do our will, but surrendering to God so His will may be done.
