Title: Old Bell Falls

Author: Evangeline Ivers

Narrator: Leslie Norris

Format: Unabridged

Length: 2 hrs and 2 mins

Language: English

Release date: 11-22-16

Publisher: The Lazarus Trust

Genres: Fiction, Literary

Publisher's Summary:

Old Bell Falls is a tale set in a small town in another time, when life's tasks might have been more forthright, but people behaved just about the way they do now. Two founding families, living together in industry, harmony, and friendship, are divided in a season of despair, when grief turns warm hearts cold. As time passes neighbor judges neighbor, in a feud whose source has been forgotten. Foolish traditions pass down the generations, from parents to children, who learn to be heedlessly cruel. Until relentless bullying of an innocent boy leads to tragedy. And then, in one breathtaking moment of strength, courage, and faith, they all remember who they really are.

A BOOK TO BE SHARED

This engaging and thoughtful tale would be a most suitable and poignant read-aloud for the entire family. The characters and setting are rich in their development and transport the reader to an exciting and meaningful resolution. I look forward to recommending "Old Bell Falls" to my book club so they can share it with their children and grandchildren!

Five Stars

Wonderful story of family and forgiveness!

Don't miss this one.

This is a perfect story to share with family. All ages will enjoy it. There is a master read with layers of sub-stories and told in such a way that each age keeps engaged to the sweet end. Lessons can be shared and it can be reread again and again. Glad I bought it.

Gripping and haunting and hopeful - I loved it!

I loved your story. I couldn't stop listening! (I downloaded "Old Bell Falls" from Audible.) What a treat. I'm still thinking about the characters and all their choices. One to re-read for sure.

Format: Unabridged

Length: 10 hrs and 52 mins

Language: English

Release date: 11-03-16

Publisher: HarperCollins Publishers Limited

Publisher's Summary:

I would like to make myself the heroine of this story and my character to be noble - an innocent victim led astray. But alas, sir, I would be lying....

Tully Truegood: orphan. Magician's apprentice. Whore.

In prison, accused of murder, Tully begins to write her life story. A story that takes her from a young daughter-skivvy in the back streets of 18th-century London to her stepmother Queenie's fairy house - a place where decadent excess is a must....

Trained by Queenie to become a courtesan and by Mr Crease, a magician who sees that Tully holds similar special powers to his own, together they make Tully the talk of the town.

But as Tully goes on a journey of sexual awakening, she falls in love with one of her clients, and the pleasure soon turns to pain. Especially when the estranged husband she was forced to marry by her father suddenly seeks her out. Now Tully is awaiting her trial for murder, for which she expects to hang...and her only chance of survival is to get her story to the one person who might be able to help her.

Sprache: Deutsch

Veröffentlichungsdatum: 09-16-16

Herausgeber: Audiobuch Verlag OHG
