Alright I have to say this book was way better than the first one

I received this book to give an honest review.

Alright I have to say this book was way better than the first one. Chris really redeemed himself and really tried to be a better father to Maisie. We see how people in his past will become a part of his life now. One character George is someone Chris knows and gives him good advice that he needed to hear. When Maisie is bitten Chris will stop at nothing to find a cure, but will it be too late? She only has 8 hours to live and a lot can happen within those 8 hours. We see a bit more of the zombies within this one which is good. I really liked how it wasn't easy to just go from one place to another. We see that not only does Chris and Maisie deal with the zombies but they also have to deal with humans, not everyone is as helpful as others.

I felt the characters were a lot better this time around. They seemed to know how to handle themselves and the situations that were thrown their way. The plot was steady and action filled. If you read book one and decided it was not the book for you then I say give book two a chance. For me it was a whole lot better than I expected.

Book 1 fabulous book 2 left me hanging can't wait for book 3. Love this author!! Read his other works, swisszom Robinson is amazing also

Great Read

Getting to watch the relationship between Chris and Masie evolve as he goes from uninterested father, to a loving dad who would do anything to keep his little girl safe, was absolutely amazing. As is the norm for Perrin Briar, this story was amazingly well written.

Pass dont waste your time

I expected the short stories to be disjointed but after 3 shorts in I was over this b

I hate it when I can not finish a book. Even worse, I feel bad when I return it, because the author's have counted on that. I buy books of short stories for two reasons- One, because there is always something from one of my favorite authors in it and Two, I am always looking for new ones.

Sadly, it is mainly because of the one narrator, Lesley Ann Fogle, that I can not finish it. Her inflections, when she has them, are in the wrong places. Almost every paragraph starts out like she is either bored or reading a text book, and then half way thru she will get semi-animated. I have skipped the first couple stories but I can't go on. I just can't, or I will shoot my phone.

I will go buy it in kindle so I can read the stories. I just won't be buying anything she ever narrates.

Peter Bishop, on the other hand, was good. I wish I could give the book two sets of stars.

Well worth the wait!

The Darkover anthologies were a welcome addition to Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover series. It was a way for relatively new authors to spread their wings, and Ms. Bradley was very supportive of fan efforts. The stories were good and offered unique insights to the world of Darkover, and Ms. Bradley had several short stories in the anthologies, which made them especially delightful to read. Alas, an incident with a fan occurred that caused Ms. Bradley to no longer be able to publish such anthologies.

It's been a long dry spell, but this book was well worth the wait. I especially like that it was based upon the music of Darkover. I really enjoyed the songs and stories behind the songs. As with the other Darkover anthologies, this one was all good. It is obvious from all her other writings that Ms. Bradley loved music, but until I read the preface, I never knew that Ms. Bradley had wanted be an opera singer.

If you like Darkover, read this book! You will not be sorry. (And there's another, "Stars of Darkover," coming out later this year.)

best of all she wrote music to go with some ...

Learned that Bradley also wrote music to go with her Darkover poems. But, best of all she wrote music to go with some of Tolkiens Hobbit poems. O ordered the CS and listen to it every day. So, if you are a Bradley fan, or a Tolkien fan, this book will give you a background on another aspect of a very good author.

I was very excited to find new MZB books in the Darkover series. As good and better than earlier anthologies. I hope they keep these coming!

I never thought there would be another Darkover anthology after we lost MZB, I am so glad her estate allowed one of her proteges to carry on.

Great Science Fiction

Seems like it has been a while since Audible released some great, classic science fiction, and this mid-century collection of short stories by "Cordwainer Smith" (aka Paul Linebarger, an East Asia scholar whose father was an activist in the 1911 Chinese Revolution) is one of the best. It's hard to come by in print unless you can find used copies online. Linebarger published all his SF under his pen name, all set within the same beguiling future that spanned thousands of years. The stories are exceptional--highly idiosyncratic in language and structure (influenced by Chinese fables) with great feeling for the sublime and the grotesque, as well as social justice. A real one-of-a-kind marvel.

The audiobook is well read in a perfectly relaxed, warm tone. Unfortunately, it highlights Audible's insufficient chapter system. It's a collection of short stories, many broken up into parts, with separate introductions for each. The Audible app devotes a chapter number to each of these elements, without any titles or ways to group them into wholes. It's a real problem of organization that prevents anyone from simply jumping to a specific story, as they would with a book in print using the Table of Contents. For example, one of the best stories is "The Game of Rat and Dragon," which is the third story in the collection, but it's only listed as "Chapter 19" and is broken up into five chapters (through 23) because the story is written in five parts. Audible should really fix this, as it makes navigating the collection very difficult.

So glad this has made it to Audible. Well read, includes all the short stories of the original publication. Every sci-fi fan should know these very creative stories.

Yes, I've heard quite of few of these volumes. All good in my opinion. Especially liked they way they use different narrators for variety. Nice touch.
