    Good and Bad
Great book! Awesome narrator!! Awful recording quality=( At times I could hear people talking and other sounds in the background of the recording.
    Terrible recording & monotonous reader
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Loved the story but I couldn't get beyond the background noise in this recording and the dull monotonous reading by the narrator. It was really sub-standard.
    Any additional comments?
Please get a good narrator like Shelly Frasier to do this audiobook. Her rendition of Book 1 in the series was just superb - the colourful vocal inflections and emotions portrayed in that reading made listening to that audiobook a real joy.
    happy fluff
If your life brims with stress and harsh reality, this series will let you slip back to a slower time, filled with rich description and tradition.
    Loved it!
I have only started reading (listening) this type of book in later years and loved this one.
An excellent story but audio had an echo
I adore all the Anne books and this is no different. my only issue is that the audio had some background echo. I thought it was my device at first but it was not. It became very distracting at times.
otherwise the reading by Susan O'Malley was very good. She does not overdo characters but gives them enough change to bring them to life. I quite enjoyed her reading.

    Faulty Recording in One Chapter
Love the series and this book especially. As does 3 generations of my family.
However, the chapter on Rush and Mark's adventure in the woods with Oren Meeker and his friends at the still is badly recorded. At least just this one section of that chapter is screechy and skips.
Since this was recorded (very well by Pamela Dillman) over a decade ago, I doubt that anything can be done about it, but Audible need better monitoring before releasing.
    Thanks!
    We can't listen enough!
My children and I have listened to this book at least three times, and we have every intention of keeping it a regular in our audio library. Pamela Dillman is superb; she breathes life into each character. The author has a way with words that enchants even my youngest child. I thoroughly appreciate Enright's knack for describing the thoughts and feelings of each character with such authenticity. Sometimes I forget that the Melendy children aren't real! Each of the Melendy books is a treasure, but this one is my favorite.
    Bad wording
Father was in the office he told the Melndie children that Mark might not want to be adopted and then the children got excited so I think you should have said all adopt Mark if you wants to.
    Delightful
Wonderful, complex characters; and fun and engaging dialogue that rings true. My children (aged 5-12) and I were all spellbound. Every book in this series is quality. The narration is also excellent, very smooth and unique for each character without being ridiculous or distracting.
    Great for the family
    Any additional comments?
These books are fun for the family. My 11 yo son loves them. The readings are expertly done.

This trilogy was a most enjoyable read. Legend and history mingled in the form of a journal. Short chapters make for easy bed-time reading (easy to finish a chapter before falling asleep!). Interesting vocabulary and correct use of language whilst believably coming from the pen of a young man. Highly recommended.
    Great Series!!
I have read this whole series and loved how the author included the original Arthurian tales in to this series, but I'm disappointed with the ending. I don't feel that he really finished this story; there are several things left unresolved. I did enjoy reading it though and hope that one day there will be a follow-up book that tells us what happened to Arthur after this book.
    Weak finish for the trilogy
The first two of this set were interesting and intriguing. "What will happen next" was constantly a thought. Any reader would wonder how the two Arthur's worlds would intersect, what would happen to our protagonist. This third book, by a respected and experienced children's author, is simply a time server, an incomplete story to fill a deadline. None of the story lines have any sort of climax; they just end. Lazy writing: quite frustrating to anyone who cares about books.
    Great series
Great series. Good for any age. Definitely a top ten series for me, I would recommend to anyone. Also love the huge Christian themes.
    great read!
I am not going to tell you all about the book, but this whole trilogy was very enjoyable to read. If you like King Arthur stories ...

    Book 4
Hilarious! Hank is an awesome kid and he enjoys making his dad laugh, his friends happy and he does all this by being real. The resident bully has his moments and there are times I wish an adult would step in with a 'Hey! Let's say something nice or not say anything at all.'
Overall I have enjoyed these books. I find kids hilarious and being their support network is the best part of my day. These books go straight down that path. Every kid needs a Papa Pete.
There appears to be 16 volumes in this series and Audible has only the first four. I wish they had more. Henry Winkler is a great narrator.
    A real zinger
I liiked it okay my favorite Hank Zipper story is the Night I Flunked My Field Trip.
Why didn't they have this when I was a kid!
I fully expected this to be the typical "young loser end's up saving the day" sports story - but it far surpassed my expectations. Yes, the main character is a loser at school and sports, but his adventures and terrors are hilariously described. And yes, the story peaks at a big softball game - but even there I was caught off-guard with how hysterical the events became.
Henry Winkler is a surprisingly great narrator, and this production will keep kids and adults grinning. There should be an Academy Awards for Mini-Van entertainment so this production could be honored. Anyone who loves sports will love this audio, but any kid (or adult) who dreads sports will love it even more.

She turned when Black Dog barked, and it was then that she saw the Spanish slavers riding straight toward her.

    Great story and narration!
I loved this book! It's a great historical fiction and it may interest some Hispanic students. (This is from a teacher's point of view). It does start a little slow, like the first three chapters, but then it takes off, leaving an excellent adventure all the way to the end of the book. I would recommend this book for adults, middle school students, and anyone who likes history!
It is a really good story.
    I like this story much.
    It's good.
But it could be a little boring to some people.

    Publisher's Summary:
The classic tale of Pinocchio follows the adventures of a talking wooden puppet whose nose grew longer whenever he told a lie and who wanted more than anything else to become a real boy.
As carpenter Master Antonio begins to carve a block of pinewood into a leg for his table the log shouts out, "Don't strike me too hard!"
Frightened by the talking log, Master Cherry does not know what to do until his neighbor Geppetto drops by looking for a piece of wood to build a marionette. Antonio gives the block to Geppetto. And thus begins the life of Pinocchio, the puppet that turns into a boy.
Pinocchio, The Tale of a Puppet is a novel for children by Carlo Collodi is about the mischievous adventures of Pinocchio, an animated marionette, and his poor father, woodcarver Geppetto. It is considered a classic of children's literature and has spawned many derivative works of art. This is not the story we've seen in film, but the original version - full of harrowing adventures faced by Pinocchio.
    Members Reviews:
Not a great story, but insightful
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The story feels at points little more than poorly-veiled metaphors weaved together into a coherent theme. While there is a clear goal and steady progression centred around Pinocchio, time and place often feel arbitrary and makes it hard to get entrenched into the world.
Would you be willing to try another book from Carlo Collodi? Why or why not?
The writing is subpar, even for its time. The author leaves no breathing room and rushes through events to get straight to the message. Characters feel monotone and superficial, atmosphere and scenery only get minimal attention. Exploring the world alongside Pinocchio didn't bring me much joy.
Have you listened to any of Robin Fields other performances before? How does this one compare?
While this is my introduction to Robin I think he does the book justice with a wide array of spot-on characters and an amusing Italian accent. His Pinocchio can be hard on the ears, but that is rather due to how the character is written than the performance itself.
Was The Adventures of Pinocchio worth the listening time?
Due to my interest in the themes and metaphors it was well worth a listen. It has made me appreciate the adaptation by Disney that much more, where they elevated the world of Pinocchio to something more tangible (not by visuals but by storytelling, mind you) than this book ever did for me.
    Any additional comments?
While I do not disagree with many of it's front-loaded morals, they don't make it much of a fun read. Even less so when read to children, who might marvel at some of the fantastical events but will be bored by its continuous preaching.
My favourite audio book (sofia 7)
I loved the adventures of Pinocchio because he was a bad puppet and became a good boy. I was completely absorbed from beginning to end.
