Writing great Reader dissapointing

The book was well written and enjoyable DESPITE the reader. She read males just fine; however she read the main female charachter as if she were a sterotypical blond - vapid. Her reading was really quite disappointing. All in all I'll be reading other books by Jayne Castle but I'll be avoiding this reader.

Dark Light

I love every book Jayne Castle writes. So much so, that I read them all every year or two. I wish Audible would sell all of her books (especially Amaryllis). Jayne Ann Krentz is one of my all time favorite writers.

Predictable

Gave me something to listen to while I did other things.

Narrator voice not too bad, but for some reason every character in the book had adult voices except for the lead. The narrator assigned her a slightly young precocious 5 year old voice. Very annoying. Had I realized this was a romance novel I would not have purchased it. Have to check closer next time

Another adventure on Harmony!

I love the dust bunnies! She continues her adventures/romance on planet Harmony. Well written, easy to follow, hard to stop listening when it's time to get out of the car.

Good story but narrator just so-so.

I had already read the paper version of this book and I truly enjoy all the Ghost Hunter books. They are light reading, no Pulitzers here, but that's OK. My biggest complaint was with the reader's voice for the heroine. She made her sound like a prissy 10 year old, not a woman. The voice she used for the heroine's friend, Kay, was just right. Sounded like a real woman. Her voice for the various men was adequate and did not bother me, though there was not much range between the various characters. It was clear enough whom you were hearing. But, at times, I did not think I could listen to the baby voice of the heroine much longer. Thank goodness, it wasn't one of those 20 hour books!

Disappointed

I don't want to come down on a Tess Gerritsen book because I really love this author, but I didn't care as much for this particular title. I had high expectations because I love her "Detective Rizzoli" books, but this wasn't up to that level. It was predictable and many times, unbelievable. I never really got attached to the characters or cared much for the story in general. I still really enjoy Gerritsen and look forward to listening to The Keepsake.

Presumed Guilty

I was disappointed in this book. I usually love reading Tess Gerritsen but this one was not like her usual writings. It was more of a romance novel than her normal page-turner mystery.

I was only able to listen to the book for 5 minutes before the overly dramatic reading grated on my nerves. I would enjoy listening to the book but narrated by a different person.

A Whiny Dependent Female

I am not a big fan of romance novels and it's time I admit and accept this fact. The female character was too whiny and dependent.

The story was not that believable to me, I didn't believe a 24 year old business woman would be that naive and as a bodyguard they never even mention her owning a weapon or having martial arts training, the hero was okay.

Below the standard for this series

Elizabeth Lowell is phoning it in. The characters just don't come to life, and the dialogue between the female protagonist and her love interest is laughable. I think it was supposed to be funny at least part of the time, but it just felt juvenile to me.

Other books in the St. Kilda series are pretty good, but this one just never got to humming. However, there is some interesting background on Western art and some good slams on the FLDS church.

More good than bad

This was an engaging thriller with interesting components. A bit heavy on the hormones; I found it hard to believe that a pair of extremely competent and independent superheros would take time out of an impending-death situation for some bump-and-giggle. Seems to me such protagonists would have been eliminated before a story could be written about them. Unfortunately there were several flukes like that, like superheros who can arrange planes, accommodations, security and more with a blink of an eye, forgetting nothing, yet not recharge a battery. Gimmee a break. Still, it was worth the read.

Sophmore Slump?

Ms. Lowell needs to decide if she is writing fiction or an art history text book. She spends so much time on the history of Western American Art that she seems to have forgotten the plot.

And her editor needs to understand that the readers can grasp growing sexual tension without repeating every other paragraph that the heroine found the hero's body "edible."

I thoroughly enjoyed this book about the St Kilda Operatives so much so that I went looking for any others. The Narrator handle the characters very well. Pity this narrator did not do the first book

Lorelei is a very good reader. She gets the character down to total believable. She brings all the emotions and attitudes of the characters Great Job!!!.

Such a disappointment

I love the Stephanie Plum series read by the same narrator so I thought for sure this would be a hit. Instead the plot was hackneyed, the ending lame and all the voices were retreads of the Plum family without the wit. I won't be fooled again. It's Plum or nothing!

Makes me think of bored housewives reading romance novels

I really didnt like this one. The story wasnt gripping or plausible. The characters were the sort you might expect to find in a bad romance novel. Their interactions with each other were both predictable and totally unbelievable, like a bad soap opera. And the snobbery and pretensions were so thick, pushing through each new scene was like trying to walk through chest-deep marshmallow creme.

I struggled to rate the performance correctly because I get the feeling the narrator read this exactly the way the author would have requested lots and lots of flowery, overdone snobbishness in the voices, excessive emphasis of the kind you would, again, expect from someone reading a bad romance novel to a bunch of soap opera fans.

I think Ill probably return this one

I don't know if the book is good or not because of the reader. She tries to use different voices for the characters and it ends up beeing horrible. I finally had to just turn it off

Nice Story

A nice light book that flowed well and held my interest. Nothing major here, nothing too memorable, but touching none the less. A love story about a single mom and her young daughter who meet a man. He manages to save the day in every way for them and becomes the missing link in their lives. A very typical Steel novel.

First Time Listner

This was my first listen to a Steel book. I found her book enjoyable and an interesting listen. I would recommend it to most readers, if they are in the mood for a novel.

Another hit

Good novel with a lot romantic scenes for people who still believe in love. Interesting way of presenting social problems like homeless and betrayal. As all Danielle Steel's novel this is another jewel.

Safe Harbora

This was very well done. I could not put it down and it was a very touching story about grief. Fabulous and I would recommend this to anyone.

Hot new series!!!

I loved this book and can't wait to read the whole series. Just discovered Kat Martin and can't believe I missed this series for so long. Very hot story!!

i was somewhat disappointed with the story. I have come to expect wee above average from Kat Martin. This was predictable, and the characters were a bit flat.

Jack Garrett has a nice voice, but I never want to hear him perform a romance novel again. Bleh!

Still Christopher the things he says are just the best & what he calls the Priest just too funny .

The story continues from the first book with the story line growing in the second & Christopher realising that Maggie will be there through thick & thin, yes he shows his vulnerable side with someone from his past that he detests trying to take what Christopher has built, with wanting to give Maggie everything she wants dealing with threats he gets a little lost trying to bring his two sides together Christopher/Outlaw not realising that Maggie actually loves the whole of him not just the sweet & she can handle both sides & does .. man does she .... Maggie is starting to show her true backbone yes she has one ... Yes the women we love to hate is in this book for a "scene" but i will be greatly looking forward to the next book , yes ill be one clicking that Audio book as well .. Cant wait <3 The story is starting to weave thicker as the intrigue is getting more depth..... the why's the where's the wonder's the who's..... love it love it

Must Needed Follow Up To Misled

This was a great follow up to the first book in the Death Dwellers' series. I was glad to see that voice actor Samuel Valor continues to narrate. I got used to him as Christopher because the tone he uses helps me to picture what the head of the Death Dwellers may look like. Mr. Valor's performance brings the author's words to life. At times I still want to laugh when he does a female voice but had to think of this as being told from Christopher's point of view and then the giggles would disappear.

Ms. Kelly has written a book that I prefer to have in audio form. It just adds to the experience of what the Death Dwellers are all about. There's no way that you can't tell what type of MC these men are and what they do for their women. It's a story without sound effects which in this case was fine by me. When warranted, I had no trouble coming up with those all by myself. One thing that you can't get away from is all the "F" words that get used here - just one indication as to the type of men make up the Death Dwellers.

the writing and story line was good, the characters were loveable. I really love the Fitzgerald family. I think that Eddie is one of my favorites, can't wait to get to his story. the narration was great.

Vince is on a mission to find a stolen statue comma during his undercover work he meets Jane whose mother is a possible suspect. The to go on this wild and crazy chase looking for the statue while trying to prove her mother's innocence. needless to say that to fall in love even though there is that slight bit of hesitation because of how they met. this book is action packed, this statue is very highly sought-after. very entertaining read which was made better by listening to the book on Audible. The narrator did an amazing job pulling you into the story and keeping it entertaining. I did find parts of the book a little far-fetched and over-dramatic. but overall entertaining and kept the mystery alive until the very end. I do recommend listening to this book on Audible as the story was painted before your eyes.

This book is exciting, thrilling, edge of your seat adventure and the sex is really hot too! This is book 2 of EB Walters The Fitzgerald Family Saga! Vince the can't keep it in his pants P I and the sweet and innocent Jade, who has a hear condition and doesn't even tell him, make the perfect pair in this sexy sleuth. This book has romance, danger, suspense, thrills, and really hot & steamy sex all while chasing down some lost art from centuries ago.

The author, EB Walters once again does a superb job at keeping me in my chair while listening to the audiobook! It has an excellent plot and story-line and the chemistry is out of this world! The narrator, Valerie Gilbert delivers this story flawlessly with all her different voices & authentic sounding accents.
