As painter I bought this book for interest in Vincent Van Gogh. I have listened to this book four times. There is a lot of information. I will be buying a hard copy. I have learned a lot regarding how Vincent worked as a painter and his technique. There is a lot of information regarding the stolen paintings from World War 2. I would recommend this to anyone interested in painting and to all the Van Gogh enthusiasts.

Gabilliet's Triumph

Who knew that the finest book about American comic books would be written by a French American Studies scholar? C'est vrai! Gabilliet tells the history of the American industry and explores the means by which comics are produced and distributed. For anyone seriously interested in comics as a medium, this book is a must have.

Not light reading

In response to the complaint that the book is not illustrated, that is not what this particular book is designed to be. Of Comics and Men is exactly what the subtitle calls it, a cultural history of American comic books. As such, it is fantastic. Every important point from the beginnings of the industry to the end of the twentieth century is touched upon, as well as examinations of the cultures of the creators and consumers of comic books.

To be fair, this is a work of academic or scholarly writing, and illustrations would have been nice to break up the density of the text. However, I must assume that the costs of licensing the appropriate images from the various media giants who now own them would have been more than a small university press could afford to do.

If you want pictures, buy theComic Book History of Comics, it lacks the depth and rigor, but covers much the same territory as the first section of this book and does it in the medium it is telling you the history of.

This book is over 300 pages long and does not have any illustrations or examples of American cartoons or comic books. None.

Dazu zählen neben seinem Aufbau in fünf Akten Rhetorisches, Sprecher, die sich abwechseln und abgebrochene Sätze. Stellenweise zu lustig, um eine Tragödie zu sein, andererseits aber zu versöhnlich, um einen tragischen Ausgang nehmen zu können, wird hierin der Zeitraum des Waffenstillstands während des Dritten Kreuzzugs einen besonderen Sinn ergebend erhellt und auf seine Bedeutung für die weitere Entwicklung hin abgeklopft.

A lot of methods a photographer could employ to sell his or her art online. The methods are not very detailed and require a lot more research before implementation, but the instructions provide a good overview budding sellers may choose from. The prose is written in a friendly and personal style making it easy to listen..

To make money at something you have to work for it. There's no avoiding that. This book will help you understand where to focus those efforts and it does a very good job of doing it. One of the better "how to make money with your hobby" books out there. Well written.
