Where does Another Nightmare Gig from Hell rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

There were some entertaining stories but it would have been better for me if I'd ever heard of any of the musicians.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I didn't have a favorite

Have you listened to any of Richard Riemans other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I don't believe I've listened to Mr. Rieman before but his narration on this book was good so I wouldn't hesitate to listen to him in the future.

These stories are very believable, being a musician myself I have been in similar situations. I particularly like the Kev Ron story, #4 I think. A must read very entertaining! 5 stars.

If you like music, you will like this book

A very well written, behind the scenes look at music. I enjoyed this book very much, and feel like I have a better grasp of what goes on behind the stage. I received this book at no cost from the publisher author narrator for a honest review.

My only complaint is I didn't want it to end!! the narrator did an excellent job & the story was great! I just wish it was longer!! I can't wait to hear more from this author & NARRATOR

Real Stories of Bands and their Nightmares

This was a very interesting collection of stories. As an artist, I have known my own collection of nightmare stories from being on the road but never imagined what could happen to bands as they traveled around the globe building their name and reputation. This was well worth the listen and well put together.

Richard Rieman did a great job telling these stories and keeping the compilation flowing from one story to the next. His diction is clear. He's articulate and interesting to listen to. Nice job.

Memoir and much more

"Sex, No Drugs & RockânâRoll: Memoirs of a Music Junkie" is called a memoir, but, in truth, it's so much more. L.E. Kalikow recalls his childhood and later years as they played out against a backdrop of 4 decades of tumultuous political, social, and musical changes.

Though, perhaps, most resonant with those of the same generation, Kalikow's story speaks to everyone .

His witty, irreverent, insightful, touching, and often raunchy (the first word of the title is SEX) narrative made me laugh and cry and feel along with him the experiences of growing up in 50s suburbia, of discovering who we are, of yearning to succeed (professionally and with women!), and of the crushing disappointment of almost having one's dreams come true.

As a professional musician, Kalikow gives us an insider's view of the music industry and takes us along on the roller coaster ride that was his career, performing in venues big and small, and working with people both famous and less so. A major perk is that the reader can personally experience his music, as he had the wonderfully innovative idea to imbed many of his songs in the text of the ebook! Print book buyers can get the CD.

L.E. Kalikow's "Sex, No Drugs & RockânâRoll" is an upbeat and engaging story that grown-ups (no prudes, please!) will surely enjoy.

Lenny Lived It, and His Story Lives On!!!

This is one of the best books on the golden years of the music biz you'll ever read. It's also one of the best books on growing up in the post WW2 North East USA you'll ever read. Lenny Kalikow lived it, breathed it, got down with the nitty gritty of it all and lived to write this great book. The accompanying CD of some of Lenny's early songs is also a treat. Get this book. Besides being a total hoot of a great read you'll impress people who see it lying around your house. I mean it!!!

Coming of age never gets old

this is more than a great trip down memory lane, it's a multi-decade road map of the evolution and nexus of music, youth, counter culture, and boomers coming of age. J.D. Salinger's Holden Caulfield must be cheering the author on.

A great telling of great bands and great stories from Bob!

The audible book of this book is what I listened to over several hours in the evening and night. You can really tell Bob's fondness over great moments like touring with Rattus and meeting great people in the Punk scene. And you can also tell Bob's emotional feelings towards his two bitter breakups, and the death of his friend who was stabbed to death at a Punk show for "being a nice guy."

However, the highlights of this book include the great records Bob got into and released! This audiobook also features a song from some of these records!

Recommended to Punk record buffs like myself and anyone who wants to get into the music but doesn't know where to start.

Non lo fa per esibizione ma soloper il piacere "acustico" di sentire il gioco dei riverberi sull'acqua. Incontrarlo vuol dire ascoltare parole che vengono da lontano, meravigliarsi per la casualità della bellezza ed "entrare in risonanza" con lo spirito del fiume.
