Super quirky and weird

Super quirky and weird, this is a good read for kids with a good sense of humor, and not painful for the adult reading either! As a preschool teacher, I've read a LOT of kids books, and I enjoy the absurdity of this one quite a bit. Also, you can't beat the price. Four-6 year olds should find this pretty funny.

Brilliant, even for my 2.5 year old

Some of the reviewers have noted this book is better for older kids, not the 2-3 year olds. I disagree...this is my 2.5 year old daughter's favorite book. She loves Banjo, and calls out his name whenever she sees him there, and asks for the book by his name. There is lots of opportunity for kids to participate in the story once they know it. I admit that sometimes when I read it I skip over some of the "extraneous" description, because it can get a little wordy for my little tike, but she doesn't really seem to notice. Read with plenty of drama, my little one adores this book.

Giggles Guaranteed!

I have 5 children ages 6 and under, and they (we!!) LOVE these books!! This one is a favorite, and has been requested almost every night this week. We have horses, so Cocoa's "horsie" attitude is extra funny to hubby and I. We appreciate that they are free of euphemisms and are well suited for our children. Buy the whole series, they are too cute not to!

The sweetest little girls book series!

The sweetest little girls book series! My daughter, my husband, myself and Nana all love them! My daughter is four years old and they will be great for years! I believe that this book has four chapters each chapter is only a couple of pages, and each page only a few sentences. Great pictures too! I buy them for all my friends kids for birthdays and Christmas. They make a nice gift and this way I can get them the whole series :)

This is not a good edition. It seems to be printed onto cheap paper from an online edition. I had to order a different version of Thumbelina. I chose the one illustrated by Lisbeth Zwerger.

Illustration 3 Stars ... Story layout 2 stars

As a child Thumbelina was one of my favorite stories, but this book didn't live up to previous editions. I gave it three stars because the illustrations are very pretty, but the layout and delivery of the story is too compact. Also the out cover was a cheap material and wrinkled. Overall not the best quality...two star rating.

One for the fairy tale shelf

My four year old daughter is a fairy tale fiend. This copy of Thumbelina is one of her favorite's. The illustrations are lush and have a mesmerizing depth to them, simply beautiful. The art begs to be lingered over, a rich story all its own exists there without that first written word. The story is a little longer then most and this suits my little one just fine. She gets lost in this story and chatters to me about this tiny little girl and how she imagines life would be like being so small. She is completely sicked into Thumblelina's adventure. After I have read it, daughter sends me away so she can privately page through the book and stay in that world just a little bit longer.

but I love this story for the uplifting moral message it gives ...

I haven't read this particular version yet, but I love this story for the uplifting moral message it gives to all of us. not just children. Children need to be reassured that they have their own individuality of beauty there is no set standard. It's okay to change as they grow in all areas and to know to love themselves in a healthy way creates strong healthy self-esteem. I found so many wonderful levels of encouragement in this story even the adults learned a lesson or two. My favorite version is the movie starring Danny Kaye, but I wanted this book for any little ones that may visit and lets just face it, for me too! :)

Wonderfu, Just Wonderful

The drawings are just beautiful, just beautiful and I have 12 different books on THE UGLY DUCKLING. Some of them are true to each word by Hans Christian Andersen and some take quite a bit of liberty but I like this. It's amazing to me how each book depicts the swan when he is little. I wish I could have full size paintings of many of the beautiful drawings.

I decided to go with the Kindle Version because she can easily lay in bed at night and read for ten (10) to fifteen (15) minutes. It has forty (40) pages in all. The illustrations are just beautiful! This is a classic literary fair tale that teaches children it's okay to be different. It's whats on the inside that counts.

Awesome classic

My son loved this book and loved me reading to him in various voices. Reading together is our bedtime ritual
