Fantastic illustrations to accompany the story of a young Harriet Tubman and how this author imagines her early life would be. A great way to introduce history to young readers. This is absolute must have book for your young reader's library!

It is actually well written, and it was a relief to me to see Minty feeling and reacting as I did as a small child and sometimes still do today. Hoewver, only the fine print above ever states that the book had 38 pages, half of which have two or three paragraphs each of text on them, in large print. This book is intended for first through third grade. It does say that above - but where it needs to say it is directly below the title and the price! I certainly never would have spent the kind of money I did on a small child's book!

Quite good but only tells childhood

This is one of the best Harriet Tubman books I have found for children. Finally, it really is for children. Most of the rest are adult-centered history books. This tells it in a way that a child can understand and get into. I wish it told more of the story but at least it gives the beginning of the story in a way that children are likely to embrace.

Twist on a familiar story

My daughter had read this book in class and was moved to tears hearing about young Harriet Tubman's experience as a child. The pictures and story line help the young reader learn of this period of our country's history and how you can rise above difficutlies and sufferings to help others.

Does not show pictures! Don't waste money!

What would have made The Little Red Hen better?

I purchased this thinking that as my child listened to the story, it would show the different pages of the book. Instead, you just see the first picture and it stays there as the entire story is read. Pretty disappointed I wasted my money....I would rather buy the actual book and read it to my child myself so that they can enjoy listening to it while looking at all the different pictures.

The story was not about Christmas but family and friends. Christmas is about the of Jesus Christ and the celebration of his birth. I'm not a religious zealot I just think this is a good Thanksgiving story.

My 3 year old son loves this story. The narration is clear and lively. The way he says "Lion!" makes my son grin every time.

Fun and Unique view of Eleanor Roosevelt

What a nicely illustrated and written children's book about Eleanor's childhood and young adulthood. Entrancing for young and old alike. Children will be able to imagine a time gone by, and their imaginations will be stirred about this wondrous woman. I bought the book for my elderly mother, as Eleanor Roosevelt is one of her top heroes. She loved it.

BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED!

Got this for a friend and must say that this book was so beautifully illustrated that I can't speak highly enough of it. The artist's renderings were like the old-fashioned style that one would see in older books. Detailed and beautiful is how I would describe it.

Nice book, EXCELLENT customer service from Red Bicycle Books

This is a beautiful retelling the more grim Grimm tale. My four year old LOVES it (but we don't do Disney or anything like that). But I just have to say that if you are buying used books, know that Red Bicycle Books is the best used seller I have had the pleasure of dealing with. I had an issue with appearance of the book (it was not as "unused" as advertised) and they bent over backwards to make it right.
