Well Written Cultural Tale

One Green Apple tells the story of a young immigrant unable to speak English on her first field trip. It is wonderfully written and the author does a beautiful job expressing the main character's thoughts as she is attempting to describe her experiences. I do find that it's a bit long for a bedtime story and thus am awarding four stars instead of five.

Great book

I read with my students who are all of Muslim faith and they enjoyed this book. It would be great to read if at a public school because my students couldn't relate to feeling different compared to their classmates since everyone at our school is of the same faith and all where similar clothes. They did say it was a great book to help others understand how the main character may be feeling.

Accepting Others

Powerful message. Teaching through text is the way to grow... Helps students to connect with those who are different from themselves. My students said, " We are all different but we are all the same." It is like Each Kindness but has a happy ending!

Beautiful story. Being teacher of a very diverse ethnic class, this book was perfect to discuss many themes, such as perseverance and acceptance. There are many wonderful lessons this book can teach. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. You can never go wrong with an Eve Bunting book. I highly recommend this book for folks age 6-adult.

We listen to the book on the way to daycare. It's a good book to get her mind going.

My daughter likes 2 different parts. 1. when the princess sees the book writting where she is. and when the wizard throws the book into the water so the princess can get away. She likes the way the princess changes herself into different animals and with different colours

Any additional comments?

I liked it because it's not one of those books you get sick of hearing after the second time. We listen to it in the car on the way to daycare and when my daughter goes to bed. It doesn't make me cringe when she picks that book again and again

funny, unusual, poetic, unique

this book is special. It is a bit sad but kids might not realize that. It is nonetheless a memorable story that stays with you. The colors and the drawings are like nothing you've seen before. The words are perfect. and it rings true.

I wish there could have been a happy ending though...but it's good this way.

grew up on this book and so did my children now the GK, wonderful stuff here.

Different than most children's stories.

My 2 year old grandson loves this book and now understands what a quarter, half and full moon is. The writing may seem more adult than for his age but he loves me to read it word for word.

Moon Man - a serious fantasy

Another Tomi Ungerer delight! Our whole family 2 - 72 became enchanted with the Moon Man and his sad experience on earth. Our two year old spotted the moon man in the sky many afternoons and early evenings. We still talk about him months later

The best little sad story of a kind and gentle Moon Man

Ungerer introduces kids to haters and fascists who victimize I kind and gentle man who wants to be free and loving. But this little man has a power that he can use too be free- he can disappear into nithingness and reappear whole again! Oh, how I wish I could do that!

Beatrix Potter has always been a favorite of mine since my first child was born 41.5 years ago - I have shared it with all of my four (4) children and now my 9 grandchildren - they loved it every time it has been read to them - not to mention the underlying lessons learned from the antics of the mice and, of course, all of Beatrice's stories - the art is amazing as well. I give Beatrix Potter books (the small ones) as baby gifts, with personal notes about how our children loved them. We visited the Lake District in England in 1972. The vocabulary used in these books teaches classic English: it is English Literature that one absorbs without thinking. The Tale of Two Bad Mice was our son's favorite; just to read the words Hunca Munca to him would start the giggles.

Tale from the Old Ghost

Hard to admit this but I had never read any Beatrix Potter books when I was very young . Nor did I read them to my children. Loved the imagination and the illustrations. Some things do get better with age. I will have to go to the library and read them to the young children there.

This is a wonderful story and almost all 5 year olds love it. The problem with the downloaded edition is that the program has all sorts of glitches where the pictures are not synced with the text. Sometimes you just can't turn the pages.

In SHORT DON'T BUY THE DNWLOADED VERSION_ IT DOESN"T WORK! By the little books themselves which are a delight.

My youngest won't let me turn it off!

This is brilliant- brilliantly put together with fantastic narration from teh guy that was in Waiting For God and Only Fools and Horses- Daniel HIll. He's also on other audiobooks, like Ralph The Magic Rabbit- That one too is a brilliant book and audio- great characters and makes you really laugh out loud- get this and keep you youngest enthralled!
