my kids hates the voice of the narrator..he shows no emotions..he reads like a professor..

Narrator was awful. Turned it off after five minutes - I was bored by it - no way my 2 1/2 year old would listen to it. So disappointed. Want to return it!

Good Stories, Bad Audio

I know that most voice actors don't do fairy tails because it takes a lot of different voices. Like when you were little and Mom or Dad read you a bedtime story or when you read a book to your little one. I was just expecting a story to keep my little one amused on a long trip. Audible.com has just spoild me with great voices telling a storys that are vivid, not reading Tech manuals.

Wonderful book!

I gave this book to my granddaughter. This is the 3rdbook I have purchased in this series. It has an adorable story line with not an emphasis on princesses, but rather on reality. One book was about her wanting to be the princess in the school play, She didn't get that part, but the part she did get stole the show. If the little girl in your life loves princesses, and your not too keen on that, this book gives the joy to her and a good feeling for you.

Restored my princess's belief in herself

My 4 year-old daughter honestly believes herself to be a princess. We have not discouraged this idea. It makes her feel special and confident and it has been a great tool to help us with everything from potty training (there's actually a book about princess potty training and you get sparkly jewel stickers on your tiara with every successful trip to the potty) to sharing with her sister and behaving well in general. Now that she's in preschool she's starting to ask if all girls are princesses. I worried she might be comparing herself to other girls or perhaps losing touch with her inner "sparkle" as she finds other girls don't believe themselves to be princesses. This book was great for reinforcing her belief in herself and keeping this innocent but powerful confidence and fairy tale excitement alive for a while longer. My daughter happens to eat pancakes for breakfast often (sometimes they're just the half dollar frozen ones because the Queen is very busy with an infant princess as well these days) so right from the start this book clicked with my daughter. I have purchased the Christmas title from this series and plan to attach it to our Christmas countdown advent calendar. I expect we'll eventually own the entire series. What a lovely surprise this series was for us. Bravo -- well done.

What library binded means? finally an answer

I was not impressed by this LIBRARY BINDING EDITION copy...no one could explain what this meant... I bought it and it looked like a golden book from years ago, cardboard that will not hold up for as long as I would like...I see childrens books being handed down for many generations but the way this book was bonded it will not make many years or withstand the abuse it receives in a library!!

The content of this book is terrific, a beautiful story in a beautiful series of books by Julie Andrews and her daughter

Beautiful & uplifting!!

We loved this story! It was a great adventure to see how she shared her sweet thoughts about all of her friends. I loved when she forgot her folder and then her dad saved the day.!!!! We also could relate to the hectic mornings they had!

Our little princess loved it!

Purchased for a friend's daughter's fifth birthday. She loved it and asks to have it read to her every night.

A classic!

Every baby gift I have given since I married into the Bland family has included a copy of the best Potter book, The Tale of Pigling Bland.

Great book for the older children's who love Beatrix Potter

This story has been on TV in the BBC series and is very popular with 5-7 year olds who like a bit longer and more complicated story i the Beatrix Potter style. The illustrations are beautiful and the language excellent for promoting extended vocabulary.

My son loves tractors and we found this video online and he watched it over and over. When I saw this I thought it would be perfect. Right now though my son prefers to just watch the video online. Maybe when he is older and can read he will enjoy it more.

The book is good quality and the pictures are colorful and eye catching. The video though is exactly as you watch online.

If you have not watched it online then this is a good book/cd for any tractor/farm animal/song kid.

Driving my Tractor

Enjoyable for all the family. My three children, aged 2, 4 & 6 all loved it. The boppy background music on the cd makes the story even better. Great education with animal names and sounds as well as counting. Watching my children enjoy a book so much gives me extreme pleasure and joy. They just want to hear it over and over again. My eldest knows the words off by heart and my four year old is not far off it either. So when the cd is playing the third part, which is just the background music with no author reading it, my children say the words themselves, which is great for their memory too. Fantasic book. Don't know what else to say, except that I highly recommend it. I wish I had a video review for you to see, as my 2 year old has a toy red tractor ride on, and he scoots around the house singing "moo moo moo, it's a very busy day". It is so cute. Great Book!

Terrific Sing-a-long Book

We love our Barefoot sing-a-long books! They come with a CD that plays an animated version of the book. Our granddaughter loves it and now I know how to sing along, too. The book is colorful and the song is catchy. It is perfect for Old MacDonald and farm lovers of all ages.

All time favorite

This was my all time favorite book. I took it out of the public library so often in the early 1970's that my mother begged the circulation desk not to let me check it out anymore. It became a family joke. My sister found an original hardbound copy at a yard sale many years ago and gave it to me. I was thrilled! I am glad to see its available again, I am buying a copy of the soft bound for a baby shower gift. I will never forget small pig's face when he is stuck in the mud..classic!

Fun! Poetry from Arnold Lobel

I purchased this for my 2 year old granddaughter. This is a true delight! Limericks and other short poetry, just right for reading aloud. My granddaughter is already reciting some of them, and can finish many other phrases as we read together. This book is a great gift for a little one!

A wondeful book for the wee ones...a delight to the ear and eye

The cover of this book declares this "A book of nonsense," and indeed it is; fun and imaginative nonsense to be sure and a pure delight when reading it to children.

This is filled with little nonsense rhymes dealing with owls and rather chunky pigs. If you read these little poems correctly (Which require little effort as the author and illustrator has already set the mood for you, you will get a lot of giggling going on coming from the child or group of children you are reading to you.

In addition to very clever little poems, you have some wonderful and detailed illustrations by Adrianne Libel, a very, very good illustrator. The pictures alone in this little book will allow a child's imagination to fly here and there in a delightful way. The illustrations are not only funny, but could also be classified as quite "cute," a term I hate but cannot think of a better one at this time.

These stories, along with almost 30 other books written and illustrated by Arnold Lobel were based on stories he told his daughter Adrianne as she grew up. This book and the others are true treasures.

This was a library find.

John McDonough is Superb!

These audio versions of the Walter Brooks famous childrens stories are just wonderful. They are about friends helping friends,especially when the going on the Bean farm gets tough! John McDonoughs narration is excellent! His characterizations of Freddy,Jinx the cat and the oily villain of the piece,(Simon the rat),are just amazing. These were my fave childrens series growing up,and John McDonough is THE person to have been chosen to read them. They are all an amazing listen. Thanks Audible.co.uk!!!
